Прва књига Мојсијева (која се зове Постање )

А бијаше на цијелој земљи један језик и једнаке ријечи.

And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

А кад отидоше од истока, нађоше равницу у земљи Сенарској, и населише се ондје.

And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

Па рекоше међу собом: хајде да правимо плоче и да их у ватри печемо. И бјеху им опеке мјесто камена и смола земљана мјесто креча.

And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

Послије рекоше: хајде да сазидамо град и кулу, којој ће врх бити до неба, да стечемо себи име, да се не бисмо расијали по земљи.

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top [may reach] unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

А Господ сиђе да види град и кулу, што зидаху синови човјечији.

And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

И рече Господ: гле, народ један, и један језик у свијех, и то почеше радити, и неће им сметати ништа да не ураде што су наумили.

And the LORD said, Behold, the people [is] one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

Хајде да сиђемо, и да им пометемо језик да не разумију један другога што говоре.

Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

Тако их Господ расу оданде по свој земљи, те не сазидаше града.

So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

Зато се прозва Вавилон, јер ондје помете Господ језик цијеле земље, и оданде их расу Господ по свој земљи.

Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Ово је племе Симово: бијаше Симу сто година, кад роди Арфаксада, друге године послије потопа.

These [are] the generations of Shem: Shem [was] an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:

А родив Арфаксада поживје Сим пет стотина година, рађајући синове и кћери.

And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

А Арфаксад поживје тридесет и пет година, и роди Салу;

And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:

А родив Салу поживје Арфаксад четири стотине и три године, рађајући синове и кћери.

And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

А Сала поживје тридесет година, и роди Евера;

And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:

А родив Евера поживје Сала четири стотине и три године, рађајући синове и кћери.

And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

А Евер поживје тридесет и четири године, и роди Фалека;

And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:

А родив Фалека поживје Евер четири стотине и тридесет година, рађајући синове и кћери.

And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.

А Фалек поживје тридесет година и роди Рагава;

And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:

А родив Рагава поживје Фалек двјеста и девет година, рађајући синове и кћери.

And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.

А Рагав поживје тридесет и двије године и роди Серуха;

And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:

А родив Серуха поживје Рагав двјеста и седам година, рађајући синове и кћери.

And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.

А Серух поживје тридесет година, и роди Нахора;

And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:

А родив Нахора поживје Серух двјеста година, рађајући синове и кћери.

And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

А Нахор поживје двадесет и девет година, и роди Тару;

And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:

А родив Тару поживје Нахор сто и деветнаест година, рађајући синове и кћери.

And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

А Тара поживје седамдесет година, и роди Аврама, Нахора и Арана.

And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

А ово је племе Тарино: Тара роди Аврама, Нахора и Арана; а Аран роди Лота.

Now these [are] the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.

И умрије Аран прије Таре оца својега на постојбини својој, у Уру Халдејском.

And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.

И ожени се Аврам и Нахор, и жени Аврамовој бјеше име Сара а жени Нахоровој име Мелха, кћи Арама оца Мелхе и Јесхе.

And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife [was] Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

А Сара бјеше нероткиња, и не имаше порода.

But Sarai was barren; she [had] no child.

И узе Тара сина својега Аврама и Лота сина Аранова, унука својега, и Сару снаху своју, жену Аврама сина својега; и пођоше заједно из Ура Халдејскога да иду у земљу Хананску, и дођоше до Харана, и ондје се настанише.

And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

И поживје Тара свега двјеста и пет година; и умрије Тара у Харану.

And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
