Друга књига о царевима (која се зове и Четврта књига о царевима )

А треће године царовања Осије сина Илина над Израиљем зацари се Језекија син Ахазов над Јудом.

Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, [that] Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

Бијаше му двадесет и пет година кад поче царовати, и царова двадесет и девет година у Јерусалиму. Матери му бјеше име Авија, кћи Захаријина.

Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also [was] Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

И чињаше што је право пред Господом сасвијем као што је чинио Давид отац његов.

And he did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

Он обори висине, и изломи ликове и исјече лугове, и разби змију од мједи, коју бјеше начинио Мојсије, јер јој дотада кађаху синови Израиљеви; и прозва је Неустан.

He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

Уздаше се у Господа Бога Израиљева, и не би такога између свијех царева Јудинијех послије њега ни прије њега.

He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor [any] that were before him.

Јер приону за Господа, не отступи од њега, него држа заповијести које заповједи Господ Мојсију.

For he clave to the LORD, [and] departed not from following him, but kept his commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

И Господ бијаше с њим; куда год иђаше напредоваше; и одметну се од цара Асирскога, те му не би слуга.

And the LORD was with him; [and] he prospered whithersoever he went forth: and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.

Он поби Филистеје до Газе и међе њезине, од куле стражарске до града озидана.

He smote the Philistines, [even] unto Gaza, and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.

А четврте године царовања Језекијина, а то је седма година царовања Осије сина Илина над Израиљем, подиже се Салманасар цар Асирски на Самарију, и опколи је.

And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which [was] the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, [that] Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.

И послије три године узе је; шесте године царовања Језекијина, а девете године царовања Осијина над Израиљем, би узета Самарија.

And at the end of three years they took it: [even] in the sixth year of Hezekiah, that [is] the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.

И одведе цар Асирски Израиљце у Асирију, и насели их у Алају и у Авору на води Гозану и по градовима Мидским.

And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor [by] the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:

Јер не слушаше гласа Господа Бога својега и преступаше завјет његов, све што им је заповједио Мојсије слуга Господњи, не слушаше нити творише.

Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, [and] all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear [them], nor do [them].

А четрнаесте године царовања Језекијина подиже се Сенахирим цар Асирски на све тврде градове Јудине, и узе их.

Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.

Тада Језекија цар Јудин посла у Лахис к цару Асирском и поручи му: згријешио сам; врати се од мене, што год наметнеш на ме носићу. А цар Асирски наметну на Језекију цара Јудина триста таланата сребра и тридесет таланата злата.

And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.

И даде цар Језекија све сребро што се нађе у дому Господњем и у ризницама царскога двора.

And Hezekiah gave [him] all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.

У то вријеме цар Језекија раскопа врата на цркви Господњој и прагове које сам бјеше оковао, и даде цару Асирском.

At that time did Hezekiah cut off [the gold from] the doors of the temple of the LORD, and [from] the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

Али цар Асирски посла Тартана и Равсариса и Равсака из Лахиса к цару Језекији у Јерусалим с великом војском; и они се подигоше и дођоше у Јерусалим; и подигавши се и дошавши стадоше код јаза горњега језера, који је покрај пута у пољу бјељареву.

And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which [is] in the highway of the fuller's field.

И стадоше викати цара. Тада дође к њима Елијаким син Хелкијин, који бијаше над двором, и Сомна писар и Јоах син Асафов паметар.

And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which [was] over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

И рече им Равсак: кажите цару Језекији: овако каже велики цар, цар Асирски: каква је то узданица, у коју се уздаш?

And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence [is] this wherein thou trustest?

Ти велиш, али су празне ријечи, да имаш свјета и силе за рат. У што се дакле уздаш, те си се одметнуо од мене?

Thou sayest, (but [they are but] vain words,) [I have] counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

Гле, уздаш се у Мисир, у штап од трске сломљене, на који ако се ко наслони, ући ће му у руку и пробошће је; таки је Фараон цар Мисирски свима који се уздају у њ.

Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, [even] upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so [is] Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

Ако ли ми речете: уздамо се у Господа Бога својега; није ли то онај чије је висине и олтаре оборио Језекија и заповједио Јуди и Јерусалиму: пред овијем олтаром клањајте се у Јерусалиму.

But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: [is] not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

Хајде, затеци се мојему господару цару Асирском; и даћу ти двије тисуће коња, ако можеш добавити који ће јахати на њима.

Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

Како ћеш дакле одбити и једнога војводу између најмањих слуга господара мојега? Али се ти уздаш у Мисир за кола и коњике.

How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

Сврх тога, еда ли сам ја без Господа дошао на ово мјесто да га затрем? Господ ми је рекао: иди на ту земљу, и затри је.

Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

Тада Елијаким син Хелкијин и Сомна и Јоах рекоше Равсаку: говори слугама својим Сирски, јер разумијемо, а немој нам говорити Јудејски да слуша народ на зиду.

Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand [it]: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that [are] on the wall.

А Равсак им рече: еда ли ме је господар мој послао ка господару твојему или к теби да кажем ове ријечи? није ли к тијем људима, што сједе на зиду, да једу своју нечист и да пију своју мокраћу с вама?

But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? [hath he] not [sent me] to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

Тада стаде Равсак и повика иза гласа Јудејски, и рече говорећи: чујте ријеч великога цара, цара Асирскога.

Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:

Овако каже цар: немојте да вас вара Језекија; јер вас не може избавити из моје руке.

Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:

Немојте да вас наговори Језекија да се поуздате у Господа, говорећи: Господ ће нас избавити, и овај се град неће дати у руке цару Асирском.

Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

Не слушајте Језекије; јер овако каже цар Асирски: учините мир са мном, и ходите к мени, па једите сваки са свога чокота и сваки са своје смокве, и пијте сваки из својега студенца.

Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make [an agreement] with me by a present, and come out to me, and [then] eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:

Докле не дођем и однесем вас у земљу као што је ваша, у земљу обилну житом и вином, у земљу обилну хљебом и виноградима, у земљу обилну маслином и уљем и медом, па ћете живјети и нећете изгинути. Не слушајте Језекије, јер вас вара говорећи: Господ ће нас избавити.

Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.

Је ли који између богова других народа избавио своју земљу из руке цара Асирскога?

Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Гдје су богови Ематски и Арфадски? гдје су богови Сефарвимски, Енски и Авски? јесу ли избавили Самарију из мојих руку?

Where [are] the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where [are] the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?

Који су између свијех богова овијех земаља избавили земљу своју из моје руке? а Господ ће избавити Јерусалим из моје руке?

Who [are] they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?

Али народ мучаше, и не одговорише му ни ријечи, јер цар бјеше заповједио и рекао: не одговарајте му.

But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.

Тада Елијаким син Хелкијин, који бијаше над двором, и Сомна писар и Јоах син Асафов, паметар, дођоше к Језекији раздрвши хаљине, и казаше му ријечи Равсакове.

Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which [was] over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with [their] clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
