А послије тога синови Моавови и синови Амонови и с њима који живе међу синовима Амоновијем, дођоше да војују на Јосафата.

It came to pass after this also, [that] the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them [other] beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

И дођоше те јавише Јосафату говорећи: иде на те велико мноштво испреко мора, из Сирије; и ено их у Асасон-Тамару, а то је Ен-Гад.

Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they [be] in Hazazontamar, which [is] Engedi.

А Јосафат се уплаши, и обрати лице своје да тражи Господа, и огласи пост по свој земљи Јудиној.

And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

И скупише се сви синови Јудини да траже Господа, и из свијех градова Јудинијех дођоше да траже Господа.

And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask [help] of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.

Тада стаде Јосафат у збору Јудину и Јерусалимском у дому Господњем пред тријемом новијем,

And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,

И рече: Господе Боже отаца наших! нијеси ли ти Бог на небу и владаш свијем царствима народнијем? није ли у твојој руци моћ и сила да ти нико не може одољети?

And said, O LORD God of our fathers, [art] not thou God in heaven? and rulest [not] thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand [is there not] power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

Нијеси ли ти, Боже наш, одагнао становнике ове земље испред народа својега Израиља, и дао је навијек сјемену Аврама пријатеља својега?

[Art] not thou our God, [who] didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?

Те се населише у њој, и саградише ти у њој светињу за име твоје говорећи:

And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,

Кад нас задеси како зло, мач осветни или помор или глад, стаћемо пред овијем домом и пред тобом, јер је име твоје у овом дому, и вапићемо теби у невољи својој, услиши и избави.

If, [when] evil cometh upon us, [as] the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name [is] in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.

А сад ево, синови Амонови и Моавови и они из горе Сира, кроз које нијеси дао синовима Израиљевијем проћи кад иђаху из земље Мисирске, него их обидоше и не истријебише;

And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;

А ево, они нам враћају дошавши да нас истјерају из нашљедства твојега, које си нам предао.

Behold, [I say, how] they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.

Боже наш, зар им нећеш судити? јер у нама нема снаге да се опремо томе мноштву великом, које иде на нас, нити ми знамо што бисмо чинили, него су очи наше упрте у те.

O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes [are] upon thee.

А сви синови Јудини стајаху пред Господом и дјеца њихова, жене њихове и синови њихови.

And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

Тада сиђе дух Господњи усред збора на Јазила сина Захарије сина Венаје сина Јеила сина Матанијина, Левита између синова Асафовијех,

Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;

И рече: слушајте, сви синови Јудини и Јерусалимљани, и ти царе Јосафате, овако вам вели Господ: не бојте се и не плашите се тога мноштва великога, јер није ваш рат него Божји.

And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle [is] not yours, but God's.

Сјутра изидите на њих; они ће поћи уз брдо Зис, и наћи ћете их накрај потока према пустињи Јеруилу.

To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

Не треба ви да се бијете у овом боју; поставите се, стојте па гледајте како ће вас избавити Господ, Јудо и Јерусалиме! не бојте се и не плашите се, сјутра изидите пред њих, и Господ ће бити с вама.

Ye shall not [need] to fight in this [battle]: set yourselves, stand ye [still], and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD [will be] with you.

Тада се Јосафат сави лицем к земљи, и сви Јудејци и Јерусалимљани падоше пред Господом, и поклонише се Господу.

And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with [his] face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.

А Левити од синова Катовијех и синова Корејевијех усташе, те хвалише Господа Бога Израиљева гласом веома високим.

And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.

А ујутру уставши рано изидоше у пустињу Текујску; а кад излажаху, стаде Јосафат и рече: чујте ме, Јудејци и Јерусалимљани: вјерујте Господу Богу својему и бићете јаки, вјерујте пророцима његовијем и бићете срећни.

And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

И тако договорив се с народом постави пјеваче Господње да хвале свету красоту идући пред војском и говорећи: хвалите Господа, јер је довијека милост његова.

And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy [endureth] for ever.

А кад почеше пјесму и хвалу, обрати Господ засједу на синове Амонове и синове Моавове и на оне из горе Сира, који изидоше на Јуду, те се разбише.

And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

Јер синови Амонови и синови Моавови усташе на оне из горе Сира да их побију и потру; и кад побише оне из горе Сира, ударише једни на друге, те се потрше.

For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy [them]: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.

А кад Јуда дође до стражаре према пустињи, и погледа на мноштво, а то мртва тјелеса леже по земљи, и ниједан не бјеше остао жив.

And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they [were] dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.

Зато дође Јосафат са народом својим да покупе плијен; и нађоше код њих много блага и драгоцјенијех накита на мртвацима, и наплијенише да већ не могоше носити; три дана купише плијен, јер га бјеше много.

And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.

А четврти дан скупише се у долини благословној, јер ондје благословише Господа; зато се прозва мјесто Долина Благословна до данас.

And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.

Потом окренуше сви Јудејци и Јерусалимљани и Јосафат пред њима да се врате у Јерусалим с весељем, јер их овесели Господ непријатељима њиховијем.

Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.

И дођоше у Јерусалим са псалтирима и гуслама и трубама у дом Господњи.

And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD.

И страх Божји дође на сва царства земаљска кад чуше да је Господ војевао на непријатеље Израиљеве.

And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of [those] countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.

И тако се смири царство Јосафатово, јер му Бог његов даде мир отсвуда.

So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.

И цароваше Јосафат над Јудом; тридесет и пет година бијаше му кад поче царовати; и царова двадесет и пет година у Јерусалиму. Матери му бјеше име Азува, кћи Силејева.

And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: [he was] thirty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

И хођаше путем оца својега Асе, нити зађе с њега, чинећи што је право пред Господом.

And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and departed not from it, doing [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD.

Али висине не бише оборене, јер још не бјеше народ управио срца својега к Богу отаца својих.

Howbeit the high places were not taken away: for as yet the people had not prepared their hearts unto the God of their fathers.

А остала дјела Јосафатова прва и пошљедња, ено записана су у књизи Јуја сина Ананијева, која је стављена у књигу о царевима Израиљевијем.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they [are] written in the book of Jehu the son of Hanani, who [is] mentioned in the book of the kings of Israel.

Потом здружи се Јосафат цар Јудин с Охозијом царем Израиљевијем, који чињаше безакоња.

And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did very wickedly:

А здружи се с њим зато да начине лађе да иду у Тарсис; и начинише лађе у Есион-Гаверу.

And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the ships in Eziongeber.

Тада пророкова Елијезер син Додавин из Марисе за Јосафата говорећи: што си се здружио с Охозијом, зато Господ разметну дјела твоја. И разбише се лађе и не могоше ићи у Тарсис.

Then Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD hath broken thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
