Послије тијех ствари и пошто се оне утврдише, дође Сенахирим цар Асирски, и уђе у земљу Јудину, и опколи тврде градове, и мишљаше их освојити.

After these things, and the establishment thereof, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and entered into Judah, and encamped against the fenced cities, and thought to win them for himself.

А кад видје Језекија гдје дође Сенахирим и гдје се окрену да удари на Јерусалим,

And when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib was come, and that he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem,

Учини вијеће с кнезовима својим и с јунацима својим да зарони изворе водене, који бијаху иза града, и помогоше му.

He took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the fountains which [were] without the city: and they did help him.

Јер се сабра мноштво народа, те заронише све изворе и поток који тече посред земље говорећи: зашто кад дођу цареви Асирски да нађу толико воде?

So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?

И охрабри се, те озида вас зид оборени, и подиже куле, и споља озида још један зид; и утврди Милон у граду Давидову, и начини много оружја и штитова.

Also he strengthened himself, and built up all the wall that was broken, and raised [it] up to the towers, and another wall without, and repaired Millo [in] the city of David, and made darts and shields in abundance.

И постави војводе над народом, и сабра их к себи на улицу код врата градских, и говори им љубазно и рече:

And he set captains of war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the street of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying,

Будите слободни и храбри, не бојте се и не плашите се цара Асирскога ни свега мноштва што је с њим, јер је с нама већи него с њим.

Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that [is] with him: for [there be] more with us than with him:

С њим је мишица тјелесна а с нама је Господ Бог наш да нам поможе и да бије наше бојеве. И народ се ослони на ријечи Језекије цара Јудина.

With him [is] an arm of flesh; but with us [is] the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

Потом Сенахирим цар Асирски док бјеше на Лахису са свом силом својом, посла слуге своје у Јерусалим к Језекији цару Јудину и ка свему народу Јудину који бијаше у Јерусалиму, и поручи:

After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his servants to Jerusalem, (but he [himself laid siege] against Lachish, and all his power with him,) unto Hezekiah king of Judah, and unto all Judah that [were] at Jerusalem, saying,

Овако вели Сенахирим цар Асирски: у што се уздате, те стојите у Јерусалиму затворени?

Thus saith Sennacherib king of Assyria, Whereon do ye trust, that ye abide in the siege in Jerusalem?

Не наговара ли вас Језекија да вас помори глађу и жеђу говорећи: Господ Бог наш избавиће нас из руку цара Асирскога?

Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Није ли тај Језекија оборио висине његове и олтаре његове, и заповједио Јуди и Јерусалимљанима говорећи: клањајте се само пред једнијем олтаром и на њему кадите?

Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall worship before one altar, and burn incense upon it?

Еда ли не знате шта сам учинио ја и моји стари од свијех народа на земљи? јесу ли богови народа земаљских могли избавити земљу своју из мојих руку?

Know ye not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of [other] lands? were the gods of the nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?

Који је између свијех богова онијех народа које затрше оци моји, могао избавити свој народ из мојих руку, да би могао ваш бог вас избавити из моје руке?

Who [was there] among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?

Немојте дакле да вас вара Језекија и да вас тако наговара, и не вјерујте му; јер ниједан бог ниједнога народа или царства није могао избавити народа својега из мојих руку ни из руку мојих отаца, акамоли ће ваши богови избавити вас из мојих руку?

Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceive you, nor persuade you on this manner, neither yet believe him: for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of mine hand, and out of the hand of my fathers: how much less shall your God deliver you out of mine hand?

И још више говорише слуге његове на Господа Бога и на Језекију слугу његова.

And his servants spake yet [more] against the LORD God, and against his servant Hezekiah.

А и књигу написа ружећи Господа Бога Израиљева и говорећи на њ ријечима: као што богови народа земаљских нијесу избавили својега народа из мојих руку, тако неће ни Бог Језекијин избавити народа својега из мојих руку.

He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of [other] lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.

И викаху иза гласа Јудејски народу Јерусалимском који бијаше на зиду да их уплаше и смету да би узели град.

Then they cried with a loud voice in the Jews' speech unto the people of Jerusalem that [were] on the wall, to affright them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.

И говораху о Богу Јерусалимском као о боговима народа земаљских, који су дјело руку човјечијих.

And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, [which were] the work of the hands of man.

Тада се помоли тога ради цар Језекија и пророк Исаија син Амосов, и вапише к небу.

And for this [cause] Hezekiah the king, and the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz, prayed and cried to heaven.

И посла Господ анђела, који поби све јунаке и војводе и кнезове у војсци цара Асирскога, те се врати са срамотом у своју земљу. И кад уђе у кућу својега бога, убише га ондје мачем који изидоше од бедара његовијех.

And the LORD sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came forth of his own bowels slew him there with the sword.

Тако сачува Господ Језекију и народ Јерусалимски од руку Сенахирима цара Асирскога и од руку свијех других, и чува их на све стране.

Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all [other], and guided them on every side.

И многи доношаху даре Господу у Јерусалим и закладе Језекији цару Јудину; и од тада се узвиси пред свијем народима.

And many brought gifts unto the LORD to Jerusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Judah: so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thenceforth.

У то вријеме разбоље се Језекија на смрт, и помоли се Господу, који му проговори и учини му чудо.

In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed unto the LORD: and he spake unto him, and he gave him a sign.

Али Језекија не поступи према добру које му се учини, јер се понесе срце његово; зато се подиже на њ гњев и на Јуду и на Јерусалим.

But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit [done] unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.

Али се понизи Језекија зато што се бјеше понијело срце његово, и он и Јерусалимљани, те не дође на њих гњев Господњи за живота Језекијина.

Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, [both] he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not upon them in the days of Hezekiah.

А имаше Језекија врло велико благо и славу; и начини себи ризнице за сребро и злато и за драго камење и за мирисе и за штитове и за свакојаке закладе,

And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;

И стаје за доходе од жита и од вина и од уља, и стаје за свакојаку стоку, и торове за овце.

Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.

И градове сазида себи, и имаше много стоке, и оваца и говеда, јер му Бог даде веома велико благо.

Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.

Исти Језекија загати горњи извор воде Гиона, и право је сведе доље на западну страну града Давидова; и бијаше срећан Језекија у сваком послу свом.

This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

Само кад дођоше посланици кнезова Вавилонских, који послаше к њему да распитају за чудо које би у земљи, остави га Бог да би га искушао да би се знало све што му је у срцу.

Howbeit in [the business of] the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was [done] in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all [that was] in his heart.

А остала дјела Језекијина и милости његове, ето, то је записано у утвари пророка Исаије сина Амосова и у књизи о царевима Јудинијем и Израиљевијем.

Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they [are] written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, [and] in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

И почину Језекија код отаца својих, и погребоше га више гробова синова Давидовијех; и учинише му на смрти част сви Јудејци и Јерусалимљани. А на његово се мјесто зацари Манасија син његов.

And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the sepulchres of the sons of David: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honour at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.
