Књига о Јову

Тада престаше она три човјека одговарати Јову, јер се чињаше да је праведан.

So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he [was] righteous in his own eyes.

А Елијуј си Варахилов од Вуза, рода Рамова, разгњеви се на Јова што се сам грађаше праведнији од Бога;

Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

И на три пријатеља његова разгњеви се што не нађоше одговора и опет осуђиваху Јова.

Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and [yet] had condemned Job.

Јер Елијуј чекаше докле они говораху с Јовом, јер бијаху старији од њега.

Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they [were] elder than he.

Па кад видје Елијуј да нема одговора у устима она три човјека, распали се гњев његов.

When Elihu saw that [there was] no answer in the mouth of [these] three men, then his wrath was kindled.

И проговори Елијуј син Варахилов од Вуза, и рече: ја сам најмлађи, а ви сте старци, зато се бојах и не смијах вам казати што мислим.

And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I [am] young, and ye [are] very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.

Мишљах: нека говори старост, и многе године нека објаве мудрост.

I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.

Али је дух у људима, и дух Свемогућега уразумљује их.

But [there is] a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

Велики нијесу свагда мудри, и старци не знају свагда шта је право.

Great men are not [always] wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

Зато велим: послушај ме да кажем и ја како мислим.

Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.

Ето, чекао сам да ви изговорите, слушао сам разлоге ваше докле извиђасте бесједу.

Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.

Пазио сам, али гле, ниједан од вас не сапре Јова, не одговори на његове ријечи.

Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, [there was] none of you that convinced Job, [or] that answered his words:

Може бити да ћете рећи: нађосмо мудрост, Бог ће га оборити, не човјек.

Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.

Није на ме управио бесједе, ни ја му нећу одговарати вашим ријечима.

Now he hath not directed [his] words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.

Смели су се, не одговарају више, нестало им је ријечи.

They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.

Чекао сам, али не говоре, стадоше, и више не одговарају.

When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, [and] answered no more;)

Одговорићу и ја за се, казаћу и ја како мислим.

[I said], I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.

Јер сам пун ријечи, тијесно је духу у мени.

For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.

Гле, трбух је мој као вино без одушке, и распукао би се као нов мијех.

Behold, my belly [is] as wine [which] hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.

Говорићу да одахнем, отворићу усне своје, и одговорићу.

I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.

Нећу гледати ко је ко, и човјеку ћу говорити без ласкања.

Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.

Јер не умијем ласкати; одмах би ме узео Творац мој.

For I know not to give flattering titles; [in so doing] my maker would soon take me away.
