Друга књига Мојсијева (која се зове Излазак )

А Јотор свештеник Мадијамски, таст Мојсијев, чу све што учини Господ Мојсију и Израиљу народу својему, како изведе Господ Израиља из Мисира;

When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, [and] that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;

И узе Јотор таст Мојсијев Сефору жену Мојсијеву, коју бјеше послао натраг,

Then Jethro, Moses' father in law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back,

И два сина њезина, од којих једном бјеше име Гирсам, јер рече: туђин сам у земљи туђој,

And her two sons; of which the name of the one [was] Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land:

А другом бјеше име Елиезер, јер, рече, Бог оца мојега би ми у помоћи и оте ме од мача Фараонова.

And the name of the other [was] Eliezer; for the God of my father, [said he, was] mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh:

И пође Јотор таст Мојсијев са синовима његовијем и са женом његовом к Мојсију у пустињу, гдје бјеше у околу под гором Божијом.

And Jethro, Moses' father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God:

И поручи Мојсију: ја таст твој Јотор идем к теби и жена твоја и оба сина њезина с њом.

And he said unto Moses, I thy father in law Jethro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her.

И Мојсије изиде на сусрет тасту својему и поклони му се и цјелива га; и упиташе се за здравље, па уђоше под шатор његов.

And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of [their] welfare; and they came into the tent.

И приповједи Мојсије тасту својему све што учини Господ Фараону и Мисирцима ради Израиља, и све невоље, које их налазише путем, и како их избави Господ.

And Moses told his father in law all that the LORD had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, [and] all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and [how] the LORD delivered them.

И радоваше се Јотор свему добру што учини Господ Израиљу избавивши га из руке Мисирске;

And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians.

И рече Јотор: благословен да је Господ, који вас избави из руке Мисирске и из руке Фараонове, који избави народ из ропства Мисирскога.

And Jethro said, Blessed [be] the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.

Сад видим да је Господ већи од свијех богова, јер чим се поношаху онијем их самијем надвиси.

Now I know that the LORD [is] greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly [he was] above them.

И узе Јотор таст Мојсијев и принесе Богу жртву паљеницу и принос; и дође Арон и све старјешине Израиљске, и једоше с тастом Мојсијевијем пред Богом.

And Jethro, Moses' father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father in law before God.

А сјутрадан сједе Мојсије да суди народу; и стајаше народ пред Мојсијем од јутра до вечера.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.

А таст Мојсијев гледајући све шта ради с народом, рече: шта то радиш с народом? зашто сједиш сам, а вас народ стоји пред тобом од јутра до вечера?

And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What [is] this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?

А Мојсије рече тасту својему: јер долази народ к мени да пита Бога.

And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God:

Кад имају што међу собом, долазе к мени, те им судим и казујем наредбе Божје и законе његове.

When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make [them] know the statutes of God, and his laws.

А таст Мојсијев рече му: није добро што радиш.

And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest [is] not good.

Уморићеш се и ти и народ који је с тобом; јер је то тешко за тебе, нећеш моћи сам вршити.

Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that [is] with thee: for this thing [is] too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.

Него послушај мене; ја ћу те свјетовати, и Бог ће бити с тобом; ти буди пред Богом за народ, и ствари њихове јављај Богу;

Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

И учи их наредбама и законима његовијем, и показуј им пут којим ће ићи и шта ће радити.

And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

А из свега народа избери људе поштене, који се боје Бога, људе праведне, који мрзе на мито, па их постави над њима за поглаваре, тисућнике, стотинике, педесетнике и десетнике;

Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place [such] over them, [to be] rulers of thousands, [and] rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

Они нека суде народу у свако доба; па сваку ствар велику нека јављају теби, а сваку ствар малу нека расправљају сами; тако ће ти бити лакше, кад и они стану носити терет с тобом.

And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, [that] every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear [the burden] with thee.

Ако то учиниш, и Бог ти заповједи, можеш се одржати, и сав ће народ доћи мирно на своје мјесто.

If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee [so], then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.
