Приче Соломунове

Ко љуби наставу, љуби знање; а ко мрзи на укор, остаје луд.

Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof [is] brutish.

Добар човјек добија љубав од Господа, а човјека зликовца осуђује.

A good [man] obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

Неће се човјек утврдити безбожношћу, а коријен праведнијех неће се помаћи.

A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

Вриједна је жена вијенац мужу својему; а која га срамоти, она му је као трулеж у костима.

A virtuous woman [is] a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed [is] as rottenness in his bones.

Мисли су праведнијех праве, а савјети безбожнијех пријевара.

The thoughts of the righteous [are] right: [but] the counsels of the wicked [are] deceit.

Ријечи безбожнијех вребају крв, а праведне избављају уста њихова.

The words of the wicked [are] to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

Обарају се безбожни да их нема, а дом праведнијех остаје.

The wicked are overthrown, and [are] not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

Према разуму свом хвали се човјек; а ко је опака срца, презреће се.

A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

Ко се снебива, а има слугу, бољи је од онога који се велича а хљеба нема.

[He that is] despised, and hath a servant, [is] better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

Праведник се брине за живот својега живинчета, а у безбожника је срце немилостиво.

A righteous [man] regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked [are] cruel.

Ко ради своју земљу, биће сит хљеба; а ко иде за беспослицама, безуман је.

He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain [persons is] void of understanding.

Безбожник жели обрану ода зла, али коријен праведнијех даје је.

The wicked desireth the net of evil [men]: but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].

Зломе је замка у гријеху усана његовијех, а праведник излази из тјескобе.

The wicked is snared by the transgression of [his] lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

Од плода уста својих сити се човјек добра, и плату за дјела своја прима човјек.

A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of [his] mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

Безумнику се чини прав пут његов; али ко слуша савјет, мудар је.

The way of a fool [is] right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel [is] wise.

Гњев безумников одмах се позна, али паметни покрива срамоту.

A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent [man] covereth shame.

Ко говори истину, јавља што је право, а лажни свједок пријевару.

[He that] speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

Има ко говори као да мач пробада, а језик је мудријех лијек.

There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise [is] health.

Истинита уста стоје тврдо довијека, а језик лажљиви за час.

The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue [is] but for a moment.

Који зло мисле, пријевара им је у срцу, а радост је онима који свјетују на мир.

Deceit [is] in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace [is] joy.

Никаква несрећа неће задесити праведника, а безбожници ће се напунити зла.

There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

Мрске су Господу лажљиве усне; а који раде вјерно, мили су му.

Lying lips [are] abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly [are] his delight.

Паметан човјек покрива знање, а срце безумнијех разглашује безумље.

A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

Рука радљива господариће, а лијена ће давати данак.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

Брига у срцу човјечијем обара; а добра ријеч развесељава.

Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

Праведнику је боље него ближњему његову; а безбожнике заводи пут њихов.

The righteous [is] more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

Љенивац неће пећи лова свога, а у вриједна је човјека добро драгоцјено.

The slothful [man] roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man [is] precious.

На путу правде живот је, и куда иде стаза њезина нема смрти.

In the way of righteousness [is] life; and [in] the pathway [thereof there is] no death.
