Приче Соломунове

Одговор благ утишава гњев, а ријеч пријека подиже срдњу.

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Језик мудријех људи украшава знање, а уста безумнијех просипају безумље.

The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

Очи су Господње на сваком мјесту гледајући зле и добре.

The eyes of the LORD [are] in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Здрав је језик дрво животно, а опачина с њега кршење од вјетра.

A wholesome tongue [is] a tree of life: but perverseness therein [is] a breach in the spirit.

Луд се руга наставом оца својега; а ко прима укор бива паметан.

A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

У кући праведниковој има много блага; а у дохотку је безбожникову расап.

In the house of the righteous [is] much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

Усне мудријех људи сију знање, а срце безумничко не чини тако.

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish [doeth] not so.

Жртва је безбожничка гад Господу, а молитва праведнијех угодна му је.

The sacrifice of the wicked [is] an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright [is] his delight.

Гад је Господу пут безбожников; а ко иде за правдом, њега љуби.

The way of the wicked [is] an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

Карање је зло ономе ко оставља пут; који мрзи на укор, умријеће.

Correction [is] grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: [and] he that hateth reproof shall die.

Пакао је и погибао пред Господом, акамоли срца синова човјечијих.

Hell and destruction [are] before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?

Потсмјевач не љуби онога ко га кори, нити иде к мудрима.

A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

Весело срце весели лице, а жалост у срцу обара дух.

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Срце разумно тражи знање, а уста безумнијех људи наслађују се безумљем.

The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

Сви су дани невољникови зли; а ко је весела срца, на гозби је једнако.

All the days of the afflicted [are] evil: but he that is of a merry heart [hath] a continual feast.

Боље је мало са страхом Господњим него велико благо с немиром.

Better [is] little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.

Боље је јело од зеља гдје је љубав него од вола угојена гдје је мржња.

Better [is] a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

Човјек гњевљив замеће распру; а ко је спор на гњев, утишава свађу.

A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but [he that is] slow to anger appeaseth strife.

Пут је лијенога као ограда од трња, а стаза је праведнијех насута.

The way of the slothful [man is] as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous [is] made plain.

Мудар је син радост оцу, а човјек безуман презире матер своју.

A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

Безумље је радост безумнику, а разуман човјек ходи право.

Folly [is] joy to [him that is] destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.

Намјере се расипају кад нема савјета, а тврдо стоје гдје је много савјетника.

Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

Радује се човјек одговором уста својих, и ријеч у вријеме како је добра!

A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word [spoken] in due season, how good [is it]!

Пут к животу иде горе разумноме да се сачува од пакла оздо.

The way of life [is] above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

Господ раскопава кућу поноситима, а међу удовици утврђује.

The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.

Мрске су Господу мисли зле, а бесједе чистијех миле су.

The thoughts of the wicked [are] an abomination to the LORD: but [the words] of the pure [are] pleasant words.

Лакомац затире своју кућу, а ко мрзи на поклоне жив ће бити.

He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.

Срце праведниково премишља шта ће говорити, а уста безбожничка ригају зло.

The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

Далеко је Господ од безбожнијех, а молитву праведнијех чује.

The LORD [is] far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

Вид очињи весели срце, добар глас гоји кости.

The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: [and] a good report maketh the bones fat.

Ухо које слуша карање животно наставаће међу мудрима.

The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

Ко одбацује наставу, не мари за душу своју; а ко слуша карање, бива разуман.

He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.

Страх је Господњи настава к мудрости, и прије славе иде смјерност.

The fear of the LORD [is] the instruction of wisdom; and before honour [is] humility.
