Приче Соломунове

Не виче ли мудрост? и разум не пушта ли глас свој?

Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

Наврх висина, на путу, на распутицама стоји,

She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.

Код врата, на уласку у град, гдје се отворају врата, виче:

She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

Вас вичем, о људи, и глас свој обраћам к синовима људским.

Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice [is] to the sons of man.

Научите се луди мудрости, и безумни оразумите се.

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

Слушајте, јер ћу говорити велике ствари, и усне моје отворајући се казиваће што је право.

Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips [shall be] right things.

Јер уста моја говоре истину, и мрска је уснама мојим безбожност.

For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness [is] an abomination to my lips.

Праве су све ријечи уста мојих, ништа нема у њима криво ни изопачено.

All the words of my mouth [are] in righteousness; [there is] nothing froward or perverse in them.

Све су обичне разумному и праве су онима који налазе знање.

They [are] all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

Примите наставу моју а не сребро, и знање радије него најбоље злато.

Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

Јер је боља мудрост од драгога камења, и што је год најмилијих ствари не могу се изједначити с њом.

For wisdom [is] better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

Ја мудрост боравим с разборитошћу, и разумно знање налазим.

I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

Страх је Господњи мржња на зло; ја мрзим на поноситост и на охолост и на зли пут и на уста опака.

The fear of the LORD [is] to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Мој је савјет и што год јест; ја сам разум и моја је сила.

Counsel [is] mine, and sound wisdom: I [am] understanding; I have strength.

Мном цареви царују, и владаоци постављају правду.

By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

Мном владају кнезови и поглавари и све судије земаљске.

By me princes rule, and nobles, [even] all the judges of the earth.

Ја љубим оне који мене љубе, и који ме добро траже налазе ме.

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

У мене је богатство и слава, постојано добро и правда.

Riches and honour [are] with me; [yea], durable riches and righteousness.

Плод је мој бољи од злата и од најбољега злата, и добитак је мој бољи и од најбољега сребра.

My fruit [is] better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

Путем праведнијем ходим, посред стаза правице,

I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:

Да онима који ме љубе дам оно што јест, и ризнице њихове да напуним.

That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

Господ ме је имао у почетку пута својега, прије дјела својих, прије свакога времена.

The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

Прије вијекова постављена сам, прије почетка, прије постања земље.

I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

Кад јоште не бијаше бездана, родила сам се, кад још не бијаше извора обилатијех водом.

When [there were] no depths, I was brought forth; when [there were] no fountains abounding with water.

Прије него се горе основаше, прије хумова ја сам се родила;

Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

Још не бјеше начинио земље ни поља ни почетка праху васиљенском;

While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

Кад је уређивао небеса, ондје бијах; кад је размјеравао круг над безданом.

When he prepared the heavens, I [was] there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

Кад је утврђивао облаке горе и кријепио изворе бездану;

When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

Кад је постављао мору међу и водама да не преступају заповијести његове, кад је постављао темеље земљи;

When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

Тада бијах код њега храњеница, бијах му милина сваки дан, и весељах се пред њим свагда;

Then I was by him, [as] one brought up [with him]: and I was daily [his] delight, rejoicing always before him;

Весељах се на васиљеној његовој, и милина ми је са синовима људским.

Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights [were] with the sons of men.

Тако дакле, синови, послушајте ме, јер благо онима који се држе путова мојих.

Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed [are they that] keep my ways.

Слушајте наставу, и будите мудри, и немојте је одбацити.

Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

Благо човјеку који ме слуша стражећи на вратима мојим сваки дан и чувајући прагове врата мојих.

Blessed [is] the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

Јер ко мене налази, налази живот и добија љубав од Господа.

For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

А ко о мене гријеши, чини криво души својој; сви који мрзе на ме, љубе смрт.

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.
