Свето Јеванђеље по Матеју

Тада Исус рече к народу и ученицима својим.

Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

Говорећи: на Мојсијеву столицу сједоше књижевници и фарисеји.

Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

Све дакле што вам реку да држите, држите и творите; али што они чине не чините; јер говоре а не чине.

All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, [that] observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

Него свежу бремена тешка и незгодна за ношење, и товаре на плећа људска; а прстом својијем неће да их прихвате.

For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay [them] on men's shoulders; but they [themselves] will not move them with one of their fingers.

А сва дјела своја чине да их виде људи: раширују своје амајлије, и граде велике скуте на хаљинама својима.

But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

И траже зачеље на гозбама и прва мјеста по зборницама,

And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

И да им се клања по улицама, и да их људи зову: рави! рави!

And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

А ви се не зовите рави; јер је у вас један рави Христос, а ви сте сви браћа.

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, [even] Christ; and all ye are brethren.

И оцем не зовите никога на земљи; јер је у вас један отац који је на небесима.

And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Нити се зовите учитељи; јер је у вас један учитељ Христос.

Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, [even] Christ.

А највећи између вас да вам буде слуга.

But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

Јер који се подиже, понизиће се, а који се понижује, подигнуће се.

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

Тешко вама књижевници и фарисеји, лицемјери, што затварате царство небеско од људи; јер ви не улазите нити дате да улазе који би хтјели.

But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in [yourselves], neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

Тешко вама књижевници и фарисеји, лицемјери, што једете куће удовичке, и лажно се Богу молите дуго; зато ћете већма бити осуђени.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

Тешко вама књижевници и фарисеји, лицемјери, што преходите море и земљу да би присвојили једнога, и кад га присвојите, чините га сином пакленијем удвоје већијем од себе.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

Тешко вама вођи слијепи који говорите: ако се ко куне црквом ништа је; а ако се ко куне златом црквенијем крив је.

Woe unto you, [ye] blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!

Будале слијепе! шта је веће, или злато, или црква која злато освети.

[Ye] fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

И ако се ко куне олтаром ништа је то, а који се куне даром који је на њему крив је.

And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.

Будале слијепе! шта је веће, или дар, или олтар који дар освети?

[Ye] fools and blind: for whether [is] greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

Који се дакле куне олтаром, куне се њим и свијем што је на њему.

Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.

И који се куне црквом, куне се њом и онијем што живи у њој.

And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.

И који се куне небом, куне се пријестолом Божјим и онијем који сједи на њему.

And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

Тешко вама књижевници и фарисеји, лицемјери, што дајете десетак од метвице и од копра и од кима, а остависте што је најпретежније у закону: правду и милост и вјеру; а ово је требало чинити и оно не остављати.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier [matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Вођи слијепи који оцјеђујете комарца а камилу прождирете.

[Ye] blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Тешко вама књижевници и фарисеји, лицемјери што чистите споља чашу и здјелу а изнутра су пуне грабежа и неправде.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

Фарисеју слијепи! Очисти најприје изнутра чашу и здјелу да буду и споља чисте.

[Thou] blind Pharisee, cleanse first that [which is] within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

Тешко вама књижевници и фарисеји, лицемјери, што сте као окречени гробови, који се споља виде лијепи а унутра су пуни костију мртвачкијех и сваке нечистоте.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead [men's] bones, and of all uncleanness.

Тако и ви споља се показујете људима праведним, а изнутра сте пуни лицемјерја и безакоња.

Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Тешко вама књижевници и фарисеји, лицемјери, што зидате гробове пророцима и красите раке праведника,

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,

И говорите: да смо ми били у вријеме својијех отаца, не бисмо с њима пристали у крв пророка.

And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

Тијем само свједочите за себе да сте синови онијех који су побили пророке.

Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

И ви допуните мјеру отаца својијех.

Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

Змије, породи аспидини! Како ћете побјећи од пресуде у огањ паклени?

[Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

Зато ево ја ћу к вама послати пророке и премудре и књижевнике; и ви ћете једне побити и распети, а једне бити по зборницама својима и гонити од града до града.

Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and [some] of them ye shall kill and crucify; and [some] of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute [them] from city to city:

Да дође на вас сва крв праведна што је проливена на земљи од крви Авеља праведнога до крви Зарије сина Варахијина, којега убисте међу црквом и олтаром.

That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

Заиста вам кажем да ће ово све доћи на род овај.

Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

Јерусалиме, Јерусалиме, који убијаш пророке и засипаш камењем послане к себи! Колико пута хтјех да скупим чеда твоја као што кокош скупља пилиће своје под крила и не хтјесте!

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not!

Ето ће вам се оставити ваша кућа пуста.

Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

Јер вам кажем: нећете мене видјети отселе док не речете: Благословљен који иде у име Господње.

For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
