Коринћанима посланица прва (светог апостола Павла )

А за оно што ми писасте: добро је човјеку да се не дохвата до жене:

Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman.

Али због курварства сваки да има своју жену, и свака жена да има својега мужа;

Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Муж да чини жени дужну љубав, тако и жена мужу.

Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

Жена није господар од својега тијела, него муж; тако и муж није господар од својега тијела, него жена.

The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

Не забрањујте се једно од другога, већ ако у договору за вријеме, да се постите и молите Богу; и опет да се састанете, да вас сотона не искуша вашијем неуздржањем.

Defraud ye not one the other, except [it be] with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

Али ово говорим по свјету а не по заповијести;

But I speak this by permission, [and] not of commandment.

Јер хоћу да сви људи буду као и ја; али сваки има свој дар од Бога: овај дакле овако а онај онако.

For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

А неожењенијем и удовицама велим: добро им је ако остану као и ја што сам.

I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

Ако ли се не уздрже, нека се жене и удају; јер је боље женити се неголи упаљивати се.

But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

А ожењенијем заповиједам, не ја него Господ, да се жена од мужа не раздваја

And unto the married I command, [yet] not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from [her] husband:

(Ако се се пак и раздвоји, да се више не удаје, или да се помири са својијем мужем); и муж да не пушћа жене.

But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to [her] husband: and let not the husband put away [his] wife.

А осталима говорим ја а не Господ: ако који брат има жену некрштену и она се приволи живљети с њим, да је не оставља.

But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

И жена ако има мужа некрштена и он се приволи живљети с њом, да га не оставља.

And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

Јер се посвети муж некрштен женом крштеном, и посвети се жена некрштена од мужа крштенога; јер иначе дјеца ваша била би нечиста, а сад су света.

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

Ако ли се некрштени раздваја, нека се раздвоји; јер се брат или сестра у таковом догађају не зароби; јер нас на мир дозва Господ Бог.

But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such [cases]: but God hath called us to peace.

Јер шта знаш, жено, да ако мужа спасеш? или шта знаш, мужу, да ако жену спасеш?

For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save [thy] husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save [thy] wife?

Само као што је Бог раздијелио свакоме, и као што је свакога позвао Господ онако нека живи. И тако заповиједам по свијем црквама.

But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

Је ли ко позват обрезан, нека се не гради необрезан; ако ли је ко позват необрезан, нека се не обрезује.

Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.

Обрезање је ништа, и необрезање је ништа; него држање заповијести Божијех.

Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

Сваки нека остане у ономе звању у коме је позван.

Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.

Јеси ли позван роб, не брини се; него ако и можеш свој бити, још радије буди.

Art thou called [being] a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use [it] rather.

Јер који је позван у Господу роб, слободњак је Господњи, тако и који је позван слободњак, роб је Христов.

For he that is called in the Lord, [being] a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, [being] free, is Christ's servant.

Купљени сте скупо, не будите робови људима.

Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

Сваки, браћо, у чему је ко позван у ономе нека остане пред Господом.

Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.

А за дјевојке немам заповијести Господње, него дајем свјет, као који сам помилован од Господа, да будем вјеран.

Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.

Мислим дакле ово да ће бити добро за садашњу невољу да је човјеку добро тако бити.

I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, [I say], that [it is] good for a man so to be.

Јеси ли се привезао за жену, не тражи да се раздријешиш; јеси ли се одријешио од жене, не тражи жене.

Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.

А ако ли се и ожениш, нијеси сагријешио; и дјевојка ако се уда, није сагријешила: али ће имати такови невоље тјелесне; а ја вас жалим.

But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.

А ово говорим, браћо, јер је остало вријеме прекраћено, да ће и они који имају жене бити као они који немају;

But this I say, brethren, the time [is] short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

И који плачу као који не плачу; и који се радују као који се не радују; и који купују као који немају;

And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;

И који овај свијет употребљавају као да га не употребљавају: јер пролази обличје овога свијета.

And they that use this world, as not abusing [it]: for the fashion of this world passeth away.

А ја хоћу да сте ви безбрижни. Ко је неожењен брине се за Господње, како ће угодити Господу;

But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:

А који је ожењен брине се за свјетско, како ће угодити жени. Друго је жена, а друго је дјевојка.

But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please [his] wife.

Која је неудата брине се за Господње, како ће угодити Господу, да буде света и тијелом и духом; а која је удата брине се за свјетско, како ће угодити мужу.

There is difference [also] between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please [her] husband.

А оно говорим на корист вама самијем, не да вам наметнем замку на врат, него за лијепу и пристојну службу Господу без сметње.

And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.

Ако ли пак ко мисли да је срамота за његову дјевојку кад остане усидјелица, и не може друкчије бити, нека чини шта хоће, не гријеши ако се уда.

But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of [her] age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.

А који стоји тврдо у срцу, и нема невоље, а има власт над својом вољом, и ово је расудио у срцу својему да задржи дјевојку, добро чини.

Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.

Тако и онај који удаје своју дјевојку добро чини; али који не удаје боље чини.

So then he that giveth [her] in marriage doeth well; but he that giveth [her] not in marriage doeth better.

Жена је привезана законом докле јој год живи муж; а ако јој умре муж, слободна је за кога хоће да се уда, само у Господу.

The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

Али је блаженија ако остане тако по мојему свјету; јер мислим да и ја имам Духа Божијега.

But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.
