Јеврејима посланица (светог апостола Павла )

Зато дакле и ми имајући око себе толику гомилу свједока, да одбацимо свако бреме и гријех који је за нас прионуо, и с трпљењем да трчимо у битку која нам је одређена,

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Гледајући на начелника вјере и свршитеља Исуса, који мјесто одређене себи радости претрпље крст, не марећи за срамоту, и сједе с десне стране пријестола Божијега.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Помислите дакле на онога који је таково противљење против себе од грјешника поднио, да не ослабе душе ваше и да вам не дотужи.

For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Јер још до крви не дођосте борећи се против гријеха,

Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

И заборависте утјеху коју вам говори, као синовима: сине мој! не пуштај у немар карања Господња, нити губи воље кад те он покара;

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

Јер кога љуби Господ онога и кара; а бије свакога сина којега прима.

For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

Ако трпите карање, као синовима показује вам се Бог: јер који је син којега отац не кара?

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

Ако ли сте без карања, у којему сви дијел добише, даклем сте копилад, а не синови.

But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Ако су нам дакле тјелесни оцеви наши карачи, и бојимо их се, како да не слушамо оца духова, да живимо?

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected [us], and we gave [them] reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

Јер они за мало дана, како им угодно бјеше, караху нас; а овај на корист, да добијемо дијел од његове светиње.

For they verily for a few days chastened [us] after their own pleasure; but he for [our] profit, that [we] might be partakers of his holiness.

Јер свако карање кад бива не чини се да је радост, него жалост; али послије даће миран род правде онима који су научени њиме.

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Зато ослабљене руке и ослабљена кољена исправите,

Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;

И стазе поравните ногама својима, да не сврне што је хромо, него још да се исцијели.

And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

Мир имајте и светињу са свима; без овога нико неће видјети Господа.

Follow peace with all [men], and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Гледајте да ко не остане без благодати Божије: да не узрасте какав коријен грчине, и не учини пакост, и тијем да се многи не опогане.

Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble [you], and thereby many be defiled;

Да не буде ко курвар или опогањен, као Исав, који је за једно јело дао првородство своје.

Lest there [be] any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.

Јер знате да је и потом, кад шћаше да прими благослов, одбачен; јер покајање не нађе мјеста, ако га и са сузама тражаше.

For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

Јер не приступисте ка гори која се може опипати, и огњу разгорјелом, облаку, и помрчини и олуји,

For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

И трубном гласу, и гласу ријечи, којега се одрекоше они који чуше, да не чују више ријечи;

And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which [voice] they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

Јер не могаху да поднесу оно што се заповиједаше: ако се и звијер дотакне до горе, биће камењем убијена.

(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

И тако страшно бјеше оно што се видје да Мојсије рече: уплашио сам се и дркћем.

And so terrible was the sight, [that] Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

Него приступисте к Сионској гори, и ка граду Бога живога, Јерусалиму небескоме, и многијем хиљадама анђела,

But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

К сабору и цркви првороднијех који су написани на небесима, и Богу, судији свију, и духовима савршенијех праведника,

To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

И к Исусу, посреднику завјета новога, и крви кропљења, која боље говори неголи Авељева.

And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than [that of] Abel.

Али гледајте да се не одречете онога који говори; јер кад они не утекоше који се одрекоше онога који пророковаше на земљи, акамоли ми који се одричемо небескога,

See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more [shall not] we [escape], if we turn away from him that [speaketh] from heaven:

Којега глас потресе онда земљу, а сад обећа говорећи; још једном ја ћу потрести не само земљу него и небо.

Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

А што вели: још једном, показује да ће се укинути оно што се помиче, као створено, да остане оно што се не помиче.

And this [word], Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Зато, примајући царство непоколебано, да имамо благодат којом служимо за угодност Богу, с поштовањем и са страхом.

Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

Јер је Бог наш огањ који спаљује.

For our God [is] a consuming fire.
