Саборна посланица (светог апостола Јакова )

Откуда ратови и распре међу нама? Не отуда ли, од сласти вашијех, које се боре у вашијем удима?

From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? [come they] not hence, [even] of your lusts that war in your members?

Желите и немате; убијате и завидите, и не можете да добијете; борите се и војујете, и немате, јер не иштете.

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Иштете, и не примате, јер зло иштете, да у сластима својијем трошите.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume [it] upon your lusts.

Прељубочинци и прељубочинице! не знате ли да је пријатељство овога свијета непријатељство Богу? Јер који хоће свијету пријатељ да буде, непријатељ Божиј постаје.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Или мислите да писмо узалуд говори: дух који у нама живи мрзи на завист?

Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

А он даје већу благодат. Јер говори: Господ супроти се поноситима, а пониженима даје благодат.

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Покорите се дакле Богу, а противите се ђаволу и побјећи ће од вас.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Приближите се к Богу, и он ће се приближити к вама. Очистите руке, грјешници, поправите срца своја, непостојани.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.

Будите жалосни и плачите и јаучите: смијех ваш нека се претвори у плач, и радост у жалост.

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and [your] joy to heaviness.

Понизите се пред Господом, и подигнуће вас.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Не опадајте један другога, браћо; јер ко опада брата или осуђује брата својега опада закон и осуђује закон, а ако закон осуђујеш, нијеси творац закона, него судија.

Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of [his] brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

Један је законодавац и судија, који може спасти и погубити; а ти ко си што другога осуђујеш?

There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

Слушајте сад ви који говорите: данас или сјутра поћи ћемо у овај или онај град, и сједећемо ондје једну годину, и трговаћемо и добијаћемо.

Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

ВИ који не знате шта ће бити сјутра. Јер шта је ваш живот? Он је пара, која се замало покаже, а потом нестане.

Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow. For what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Мјесто да говорите: ако Господ хтједбуде, и живи будемо учинићемо ово или оно.

For that ye [ought] to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

А сад се хвалите својијем поносом. Свака је хвала такова зла.

But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

Јер који зна добро чинити и не чини, гријех му је.

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth [it] not, to him it is sin.
