А по смрти Исусовој упиташе синови Израиљеви Господа говорећи: ко ће између нас ићи први на Хананеје да се бије с њима?

Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?

И Господ рече: Јуда нека иде; ето дао сам му земљу у руке.

And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.

А Јуда рече Симеуну брату својему: хајде са мном на мој дио да се бијемо с Хананејима; пак ћу и ја ићи с тобом на твој дио. И пође Симеун с њим.

And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.

И изиде Јуда; и даде им Господ Хананеје и Ферезеје у руке, и побише их у Везеку десет тисућа људи.

And Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.

Јер нађоше Адони-Везека у Везеку, и ударише на њ, и побише Хананеје и Ферезеје.

And they found Adonibezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

И побјеже Адони-Везек, а они га потјераше и ухвативши га отсјекоше му палце у руку и у ногу.

But Adonibezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.

Тада рече Адони-Везек: седамдесет царева отсјеченијех палаца у руку и у ногу купише што бјеше под мојим столом; како сам чинио, тако ми плати Бог. И одведоше га у Јерусалим, и ондје умрије.

And Adonibezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered [their meat] under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

Јер синови Јудини ударише на Јерусалим и узеше га, и исјекоше грађане оштријем мачем, а град сажегоше огњем.

Now the children of Judah had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and smitten it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

Потом изидоше синови Јудини да војују на Хананеје, који живљаху у гори и на југу и у равни.

And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.

И Јуда изиде на Хананеје који живљаху у Хеврону, а Хеврону бијаше пређе име Киријат-Арва; и побише Сесаја и Ахимана и Талмаја.

And Judah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron: (now the name of Hebron before [was] Kirjatharba:) and they slew Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

А одатле отидоше на Давиране, а Давиру прије бјеше име Киријат-Сефер.

And from thence he went against the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before [was] Kirjathsepher:

И рече Халев: ко савлада Киријат-Сефер и узме га, даћу му Ахсу кћер своју за жену.

And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

И узе га Готонило, син Кенезов, млађи брат Халевов; и даде му Ахсу кћер своју за жену.

And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

И кад полажаше, наговараше га да иште у оца њезина поље; па скочи с магарца. А Халев јој рече: што ти је?

And it came to pass, when she came [to him], that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted from off [her] ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wilt thou?

А она му рече: дај ми дар; кад си ми дао сухе земље, дај ми и извора воденијех. И даде јој Халев изворе горње и изворе доње.

And she said unto him, Give me a blessing: for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.

А и синови Кенеја таста Мојсијева изидоше из града палмова са синовима Јудинијем у пустињу Јудину, која је на југу од Арада. И дошавши живљаху с народом.

And the children of the Kenite, Moses' father in law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the children of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which [lieth] in the south of Arad; and they went and dwelt among the people.

Потом изиде Јуда са Симеуном братом својим, и побише Хананеје који живљаху у Сефату, и раскопаше га, и прозва се град Орма.

And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.

И Газу узе Јуда с међама њезинијем, и Аскалон с међама његовијем, и Акарон с међама његовијем.

Also Judah took Gaza with the coast thereof, and Askelon with the coast thereof, and Ekron with the coast thereof.

Јер Господ бјеше с Јудом, те освоји гору; али не изагна онијех који живљаху у долини, јер имаху гвоздена кола.

And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out [the inhabitants of] the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.

И дадоше Халеву Хеврон, као што бјеше заповједио Мојсије, а он изагна оданде три сина Енакова.

And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak.

А синови Венијаминови не изагнаше Јевусеја који живљаху у Јерусалиму; него Јевусеји осташе у Јерусалиму са синовима Венијаминовијем до овога дана.

And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.

Изидоше и синови Јосифови на Ветиљ, и Господ бијаше с њима.

And the house of Joseph, they also went up against Bethel: and the LORD [was] with them.

И уходише Ветиљ синови Јосифови, а име граду бјеше прије Луз.

And the house of Joseph sent to descry Bethel. (Now the name of the city before [was] Luz.)

И уходе видјеше човјека који иђаше из града и рекоше му: хајде покажи нам куда ћемо ући у град, па ћемо ти учинити милост.

And the spies saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said unto him, Shew us, we pray thee, the entrance into the city, and we will shew thee mercy.

А он им показа куда ће ући у град; и исјекоше у граду све оштријем мачем, а онога човјека пустише са свом породицом његовом.

And when he shewed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.

И отиде онај човјек у земљу Хетејску, и ондје сазида град, и прозва га Луз; то му је име до данас.

And the man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called the name thereof Luz: which [is] the name thereof unto this day.

А Манасија не изагна становника из Вет-Сана и села његовијех, ни из Танаха и села његовијех, ни становника из Дора и села његовијех, ни становника из Ивлеама и села његовијех, ни становника из Мегида и села његовијех; и Хананеји стадоше живјети у тој земљи.

Neither did Manasseh drive out [the inhabitants of] Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

А кад ојача Израиљ, удари на Хананеје данак, али их не изагна.

And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

Ни Јефрем не изагна Хананеја који живљаху у Гезеру; него осташе Хананеји с њим у Гезеру.

Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.

Завулон не изагна становника из Китрона, ни становника из Налола; него осташе Хананеји с њим, и плаћаху данак.

Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.

Асир не изагна становника из Акона, ни становника из Сидона ни из Алава, ни из Ахазива, ни из Хелве, ни из Афика, ни из Реова;

Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:

Него Асир живљаше међу Хананејима, становницима оне земље, јер их не изагна.

But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.

Нефталим не изагна становника из Вет-Семеса, ни становника из Вет-Аната; него живљаше међу Хананејима становницима оне земље; и становници у Вет-Семесу и у Вет-Анату плаћаху им данак.

Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became tributaries unto them.

А Амореји притјешњаваху синове Данове у гори, и не дадијаху им слазити у долину.

And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:

И Амореји стадоше живјети у гори Ересу, у Ајалону и у Салвиму; а кад осили рука дома Јосифова, плаћаше данак.

But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.

А међа Аморејима бјеше од горе Акравимске, од стијене па на више.

And the coast of the Amorites [was] from the going up to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
