Књига о судијама

У то вријеме не бјеше цара у Израиљу, и у то вријеме племе Даново тражаше себи нашљедство гдје би наставало, јер му дотада не бјеше допало нашљедство међу племенима Израиљевијем.

In those days [there was] no king in Israel: and in those days the tribe of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto that day [all their] inheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel.

Зато послаше синови Данови из породице своје пет људи између себе, храбре људе од Сараје и Естаола, да уходе земљу и добро размотре, и рекоше им: идите, размотрите земљу. И они отидоше у гору Јефремову у кућу Мишину и заноћише ондје.

And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.

И кад бијаху код куће Мишине, познаше глас онога младића Левита, и свративши се онамо рекоше му: ко те доведе овамо? и шта радиш ту? и шта ћеш ту?

When they [were] by the house of Micah, they knew the voice of the young man the Levite: and they turned in thither, and said unto him, Who brought thee hither? and what makest thou in this [place]? and what hast thou here?

А он им рече: тако и тако учини ми Миха, и најми ме да му будем свештеник.

And he said unto them, Thus and thus dealeth Micah with me, and hath hired me, and I am his priest.

А они му рекоше: упитај Бога да знамо хоће ли нам бити срећан пут на који пођосмо.

And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.

А свештеник им рече: идите с миром; по вољи је Господу пут којим идете.

And the priest said unto them, Go in peace: before the LORD [is] your way wherein ye go.

И тако пошавши онијех пет људи дођоше у Лаис, и видјеше тамошњи народ гдје живи без страха по обичају Сидонском, мирно и без страха, и да нема никога у земљи ко би им чимгод досађивао или отимао власт, и да су далеко од Сидоњана нити имају шта с ким.

Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that [were] therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and [there was] no magistrate in the land, that might put [them] to shame in [any] thing; and they [were] far from the Zidonians, and had no business with [any] man.

Па кад се вратише к браћи својој у Сарају и Естаол, рекоше им браћа: што је?

And they came unto their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol: and their brethren said unto them, What [say] ye?

А они рекоше: устајте да идемо на њих; јер видјесмо земљу, и врло је добра. И ви не марите? немојте се лијенити, него похитајте да узмете земљу.

And they said, Arise, that we may go up against them: for we have seen the land, and, behold, it [is] very good: and [are] ye still? be not slothful to go, [and] to enter to possess the land.

Кад дођете, доћи ћете к народу безбрижном и у земљу пространу; јер је предаде Бог у ваше руке; то је мјесто гдје нема недостатака ни у чем што има на земљи.

When ye go, ye shall come unto a people secure, and to a large land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where [there is] no want of any thing that [is] in the earth.

Тада пођоше оданде из Сараје и Естаола шест стотина људи од породице Данове наоружанијех.

And there went from thence of the family of the Danites, out of Zorah and out of Eshtaol, six hundred men appointed with weapons of war.

И отишавши стадоше у око код Киријат-Јарима у Јуди; зато се прозва оно мјесто Махане-Дан до данас, и јест иза Киријат-Јарима.

And they went up, and pitched in Kirjathjearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Mahanehdan unto this day: behold, [it is] behind Kirjathjearim.

А оданде пошавши у гору Јефремову дођоше у кућу Мишину.

And they passed thence unto mount Ephraim, and came unto the house of Micah.

Тада проговорише петорица што бијаху ишли да уходе земљу Лаиску, и рекоше браћи својој: знате ли да у овијем кућама има оплећак и ликова, и лик резан и лик ливен? Сада дакле гледајте што ћете радити.

Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said unto their brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? now therefore consider what ye have to do.

А они свративши се онамо уђоше у кућу гдје бјеше младић Левит, у кућу Мишину, и упиташе га за здравље.

And they turned thitherward, and came to the house of the young man the Levite, [even] unto the house of Micah, and saluted him.

А шест стотина људи наоружанијех од синова Дановијех стадоше пред вратима.

And the six hundred men appointed with their weapons of war, which [were] of the children of Dan, stood by the entering of the gate.

А пет људи што бјеху ишли да уходе земљу отишавши уђоше и узеше лик резан и оплећак и ликове и лик ливен; а свештеник стајаше на вратима са шест стотина људи наоружанијех.

And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, [and] came in thither, [and] took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men [that were] appointed with weapons of war.

И они што уђоше у кућу Мишину кад узеше лик резани, оплећак, ликове и лик ливени, свештеник им рече: шта радите?

And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye?

А они му рекоше: мучи, метни руку на уста, па хајде с нама, и буди нам отац и свештеник. Што ти је боље, бити свештеник кући једнога човјека или бити свештеник племену и породици у Израиљу?

And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: [is it] better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel?

И свештеник се обрадова у срцу, и узе оплећак и ликове и лик резани, и уђе међу народ.

And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.

И окренувши се пођоше пустивши дјецу и стоку и закладе напријед.

So they turned and departed, and put the little ones and the cattle and the carriage before them.

А кад бијаху далеко од куће Мишине, онда људи који живљаху у кућама близу куће Мишине скупише се и пођоше у потјеру за синовима Дановијем.

[And] when they were a good way from the house of Micah, the men that [were] in the houses near to Micah's house were gathered together, and overtook the children of Dan.

И викаше за синовима Дановијем, а они обазревши се рекоше Миши: што ти је, те си скупио толике људе?

And they cried unto the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said unto Micah, What aileth thee, that thou comest with such a company?

А он рече: узели сте моје богове које сам начинио, и свештеника, па отидосте. Шта још имам? па још кажете: што ти је?

And he said, Ye have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and ye are gone away: and what have I more? and what [is] this [that] ye say unto me, What aileth thee?

А синови Данови рекоше му: немој да ти се чује глас за нама, да не би ударили на вас људи гњевни, те ћеш изгубити душу своју и душу дома својега.

And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life, with the lives of thy household.

И синови Данови отидоше својим путем, а Миха видећи да су јачи од њега врати се и отиде кући својој.

And the children of Dan went their way: and when Micah saw that they [were] too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house.

И они узевши што бјеше начинио Миха, и свештеника, којега имаше, дођоше у Лаис к народу мирном и безбрижном; па их исјекоше оштријем мачем, а град упалише огњем.

And they took [the things] which Micah had made, and the priest which he had, and came unto Laish, unto a people [that were] at quiet and secure: and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire.

И не бјеше никога да их избави; јер бијаху далеко од Сидона и не имаху ништа ни с ким; а град бијаше у долини која је код Вет-Реова. Послије сазидаше град и населише се у њему.

And [there was] no deliverer, because it [was] far from Zidon, and they had no business with [any] man; and it was in the valley that [lieth] by Bethrehob. And they built a city, and dwelt therein.

И назваше град Дан по имену Дана оца својега, који се роди Израиљу; а прије се град зваше Лаис.

And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born unto Israel: howbeit the name of the city [was] Laish at the first.

И синови Данови намјестише себи онај лик резани; а Јонатан син Гирсона сина Манасијина и синови његови бијаху свештеници племену Данову докле се год не исели из земље.

And the children of Dan set up the graven image: and Jonathan, the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the day of the captivity of the land.

И намјештен им стајаше онај лик резани, који начини Миха, за све вријеме докле дом Божји бијаше у Силому.

And they set them up Micah's graven image, which he made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.
