Књига о Рути

А у оно вријеме кад суђаху судије би глад у земљи; и један човјек из Витлејема Јудина отиде да живи као дошљак у земљи Моавској са женом својом и са два сина своја.

Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.

А име тому човјеку бјеше Елимелех, а жени му име Нојемина, а имена двојице синова његовијех Малон и Хелеон; и бијаху Ефраћани, из Витлејема Јудина; и дођоше у земљу Моавску и настанише се ондје.

And the name of the man [was] Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.

Потом умрије Елимелех муж Нојеминин и она оста са два сина своја.

And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.

Они се оженише Моавкама: једној бјеше име Орфа а другој Рута; и ондје стајаху до десет година.

And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one [was] Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.

Потом умријеше обојица, Малон и Хелеон; и жена оста без два сина своја и без мужа својега.

And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.

Тада се она подиже са снахама својима да се врати из земље Моавске, јер чу у земљи Моавској да је Господ походио народ свој давши им хљеба.

Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.

И изиде из мјеста гдје бијаше, и обје снахе њезине с њом; пођоше путем да се врате у земљу Јудину.

Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.

Тада рече Нојемина објема снахама својима: идите, вратите се свака у дом матере своје; Господ нека вам учини милост као што ви учинисте умрлима и мени.

And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.

Да вам да Господ да нађете починак свака у дому мужа својега. И пољуби их; а оне повикавши заплакаше,

The LORD grant you that ye may find rest, each [of you] in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.

И рекоше јој: не, него ћемо се с тобом вратити у твој народ.

And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.

А Нојемина им рече: идите натраг, кћери моје; што бисте ишле са мном? зар ћу још имати синова у утроби својој да вам буду мужеви?

And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? [are] there yet [any more] sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

Вратите се, кћери моје, идите; јер сам остарјела и нијесам за удају. А и да кажем да се надам и да се још ноћас удам, и да родим синове,

Turn again, my daughters, go [your way]; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, [if] I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;

Зар ћете их ви чекати док одрасту? зар ћете тога ради стајати неудате? Немојте, кћери моје; јер су моји јади већи од ваших, јер се рука Господња подигла на ме.

Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.

Тада оне подигавши глас свој плакаше опет; и Орфа пољуби свекрву своју; а Рута оста код ње.

And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.

А она јој рече: ето, јетрва се твоја вратила народу својему и к боговима својим; врати се и ти за јетрвом својом.

And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.

Али Рута рече: немој ме наговарати да те оставим и од тебе отидем; јер куда год ти идеш, идем и ја; и гдје се год ти настаниш, настанићу се и ја; твој је народ мој народ, и твој је Бог мој Бог.

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, [or] to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people [shall be] my people, and thy God my God:

Гдје ти умријеш, умријећу и ја, и ондје ћу бити погребена. То нека ми учини Господ и то нека ми дода, смрт ће ме само раставити с тобом.

Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, [if ought] but death part thee and me.

А она кад видје да је тврдо наумила ићи с њом, преста је одвраћати.

When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.

Тако идоше обје док не дођоше у Витлејем; а кад дођоше у Витлејем, сав град узавре њих ради, и говораху: је ли то Нојемина?

So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, [Is] this Naomi?

А она им говораше: не зовите ме више Нојемина, него ме зовите Мара, јер ми велике јаде зададе свемогући.

And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.

Обилна сам отишла, а празну ме врати Господ. Зашто ме зовете Нојемина, кад ме Господ обори и свемогући ме уцвијели.

I went out full, and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why [then] call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?

Тако дође натраг Нојемина и с њом Рута Моавка, снаха њезина, вративши се из земље Моавске; а дођоше у Витлејем о почетку јечмене жетве.

So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
