Прва књига Самуилова (која се зове и Прва књига о царевима )

Бијаше један човјек из Раматајим-Софима, из горе Јефремове, којему име бјеше Елкана син Јероама, сина Елива, сина Това, сина Суфова, Ефраћанин.

Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name [was] Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:

И имаше двије жене, једној бјеше име Ана а другој Фенина; и Фенина имаше дјеце, а Ана немаше дјеце.

And he had two wives; the name of the one [was] Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

И иђаше тај човјек сваке године из својега града да се поклони и принесе жртву Господу над војскама у Силом; а ондје бијаху два сина Илијева, Офније и Финес, свештеници Господњи.

And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, [were] there.

И један дан кад Елкана принесе жртву, даде Фенини жени својој и свијем синовима њезинијем и кћерима њезинијем по дио;

And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:

Ани пак даде два дијела, јер љубљаше Ану, а њој Господ бјеше затворио материцу.

But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.

И противница је њезина врло цвијељаше пркосећи јој што јој Господ бјеше затворио материцу.

And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

Тако чињаше Елкана сваке године, и Ана хођаше у дом Господњи, а она је цвијељаше, те плакаше и не јеђаше.

And [as] he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

А Елкана муж њезин рече јој једном: Ана, зашто плачеш? и зашто не једеш? и зашто је срце твоје невесело? Нијесам ли ти ја бољи него десет синова?

Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? [am] not I better to thee than ten sons?

А Ана уста, пошто једоше и пише у Силому; а Илије свештеник сјеђаше на столици на прагу дома Господњега.

So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.

И она тужна у срцу помоли се Господу плачући много.

And she [was] in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.

И завјетова се говорећи: Господе над војскама! ако погледаш на муку слушкиње своје, и опоменеш ме се, и не заборавиш слушкиње своје, него даш слушкињи својој мушко чедо, ја ћу га дати Господу докле је год жив, и бритва неће пријећи преко главе његове.

And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

И кад се она дуго мољаше пред Господом, Илије мотраше на уста њезина.

And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.

Али Ана говораше у срцу својем, уста јој се само мицаху а глас јој се не чујаше; стога Илије помисли да је пијана.

Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

Па јој рече Илије: докле ћеш бити пијана? отријезни се од вина својега.

And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

Али Ана одговори и рече: нијесам пијана, господару, него сам жена тужна у срцу; нијесам пила вина ни силовита пића; него излијевам душу своју пред Господом.

And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I [am] a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

Немој једначити слушкиње своје с неваљалом женом; јер сам од велике туге и жалости своје говорила досад.

Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.

Тада одговори Илије и рече: иди с миром; а Бог Израиљев да ти испуни молбу, за што си га молила.

Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant [thee] thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

А она рече: нека нађе слушкиња твоја милост пред тобом! Тада отиде жена својим путем, и једе, и лице јој не бјеше више као прије.

And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more [sad].

И сјутрадан уранише, и поклонише се Господу, и вратише се и дођоше кући својој у Рамат. И Елкана позна Ану жену своју, и Господ се опомену ње.

And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.

И кад би вријеме пошто Ана затрудње роди сина, и надје му име Самуило, јер, рече, испросих га у Господа.

Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, [saying], Because I have asked him of the LORD.

Потом пође онај човјек Елкана са свијем домом својим да принесе Господу годишњу жртву и завјет свој.

And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.

Али Ана не пође, јер рече мужу својему: докле одојим дијете, онда ћу га одвести да изиде пред Господа и остане ондје до вијека.

But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, [I will not go up] until the child be weaned, and [then] I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever.

И рече јој Елкана муж њезин: чини како ти драго; остани докле га не одојиш; само да хоће Господ испунити ријеч своју. И тако жена оста; и дојаше сина својега докле га не одоји.

And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.

А кад га одоји, одведе га са собом узевши три телета и ефу брашна и мијех вина, и уведе га у дом Господњи у Силому; а дијете бијаше још мало.

And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child [was] young.

И заклаше теле и доведоше дијете к Илију.

And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.

И она рече: чуј господару, како је жива душа твоја, господару, ја сам она жена која је стајала овдје код тебе молећи се Господу.

And she said, Oh my lord, [as] thy soul liveth, my lord, I [am] the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.

Молих се за ово дијете, и испуни ми Господ молбу моју, за што сам га молила.

For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:

Зато и ја дајем њега Господу, докле је год жив, да је дат Господу. И поклонише се ондје Господу.

Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.
