Друга књига Самуилова (која се зове и Друга књига о царевима )

А послије тога набави себи Авесалом кола и коња и педесет људи, који трчаху пред њим.

And it came to pass after this, that Absalom prepared him chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.

И устајаше рано Авесалом, и стајаше крај пута код врата; и ко год имаше парницу и иђаше цару на суд, Авесалом га дозиваше к себи и говораше: из кога си града? А кад би онај одговорио: слуга је твој из тога и тога племена Израиљева,

And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was [so], that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city [art] thou? And he said, Thy servant [is] of one of the tribes of Israel.

Тада би му рекао Авесалом: видиш, твоја је ствар добра и праведна, али те нема ко саслушати код цара.

And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters [are] good and right; but [there is] no man [deputed] of the king to hear thee.

Још говораше Авесалом: кад бих ја био постављен да судим у земљи! да сваки к мени долази који има посла на суду, ја бих му дао правицу.

Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice!

И кад би му ко приступио да му се поклони, он би пружио руку своју, те би га ухватио и пољубио.

And it was [so], that when any man came nigh [to him] to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him.

Тако чињаше Авесалом са сваким Израиљцем, који долажаше на суд к цару; и Авесалом примамљиваше срца људи Израиљаца.

And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

А кад прође четрдесет година, рече Авесалом цару: да отидем у Хеврон да извршим завјет који сам завјетовао Господу.

And it came to pass after forty years, that Absalom said unto the king, I pray thee, let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed unto the LORD, in Hebron.

Јер кад сјеђах у Гесуру у Сирији, учини завјет слуга твој рекавши: ако ме Господ одведе натраг у Јерусалим, послужићу Господу.

For thy servant vowed a vow while I abode at Geshur in Syria, saying, If the LORD shall bring me again indeed to Jerusalem, then I will serve the LORD.

А цар му рече: иди с миром. И он се подиже и отиде у Хеврон.

And the king said unto him, Go in peace. So he arose, and went to Hebron.

И разасла Авесалом по свијем племенима Израиљевим уходе поручивши: кад чујете трубе да затрубе, реците: зацари се Авесалом у Хеврону.

But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as ye hear the sound of the trumpet, then ye shall say, Absalom reigneth in Hebron.

А с Авесаломом отиде двјеста људи из Јерусалима позванијех; али отидоше у простоти својој не знајући ништа.

And with Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem, [that were] called; and they went in their simplicity, and they knew not any thing.

А Авесалом посла и по Ахитофела Гилоњанина, савјетника Давидова, да дође из града својега Гилона, кад приношаше жртве. И буна поста јака, и народ се све више стјецаше к Авесалому.

And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counsellor, from his city, [even] from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.

And there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.

А Давид рече свијем слугама својим које бијаху с њим у Јерусалиму: устајте, да бјежимо; иначе нећемо утећи од Авесалома; брже похитајте, да не похита он и не стигне нас и обори на нас зло, и града не окрене под мач.

And David said unto all his servants that [were] with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not [else] escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

А слуге цареве рекоше цару: што је год воља цару господару нашему, ево слуга твојих.

And the king's servants said unto the king, Behold, thy servants [are ready to do] whatsoever my lord the king shall appoint.

И отиде цар пјешице и сав дом његов; само десет жена иноча остави цар да му чувају кућу.

And the king went forth, and all his household after him. And the king left ten women, [which were] concubines, to keep the house.

И кад отиде цар и сав народ пјешице, уставише се на једном мјесту подалеко.

And the king went forth, and all the people after him, and tarried in a place that was far off.

А све слуге његове иђаху уза њ, и сви Херетеји и сви Фелетеји; и сви Гетеји, шест стотина људи, који бијаху дошли пјешке из Гата, иђаху пред царем.

And all his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men which came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.

И рече цар Итају Гетејину: што и ти идеш с нама? Врати се и остани код цара; јер си странац и опет ћеш отићи у своје мјесто.

Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Wherefore goest thou also with us? return to thy place, and abide with the king: for thou [art] a stranger, and also an exile.

Јуче си дошао, па зар данас да те крећем да се потуцаш с нама? Ја ћу ићи куда могу, а ти се врати и одведи натраг браћу своју. Нека милост и вјера буде с тобом.

Whereas thou camest [but] yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us? seeing I go whither I may, return thou, and take back thy brethren: mercy and truth [be] with thee.

А Итај одговори цару и рече: тако жив да је Господ и тако да је жив цар господар мој, гдје буде цар господар мој, било на смрт или на живот, ондје ће бити и слуга твој.

And Ittai answered the king, and said, [As] the LORD liveth, and [as] my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.

Тада рече Давид Итају: а ти ходи. И тако пође Итај Гетејин са свијем људима својим и свом дјецом што бијаху с њим.

And David said to Ittai, Go and pass over. And Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones that [were] with him.

И сва земља плакаше иза гласа и сав народ прелажаше. И тако цар пријеђе преко потока Кедрона, и сав народ пријеђе идући к пустињи.

And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the way of the wilderness.

А гле и Садок бијаше ондје и сви Левити с њим носећи ковчег завјета Божијега; и спустише ковчег Божји, а пође и Авијатар, докле сав народ изиде из града.

And lo Zadok also, and all the Levites [were] with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God: and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.

И рече цар Садоку: носи ковчег Божји натраг у град; ако нађем милост пред Господом, он ће ме довести натраг, и даће ми да опет видим њега и дом његов.

And the king said unto Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and shew me [both] it, and his habitation:

Ако ли овако рече: нијеси ми мио; ево ме, нека учини са мном што му буде воља.

But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, [here am] I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him.

Још рече цар Садоку свештенику: нијеси ли ти видјелац? врати се у град с миром, и Ахимас син твој и Јонатан син Авијатаров, два сина ваша с вама.

The king said also unto Zadok the priest, [Art not] thou a seer? return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

Видите, ја ћу се забавити у пољу у пустињи докле не дође од вас гласник да ми јави.

See, I will tarry in the plain of the wilderness, until there come word from you to certify me.

И тако Садок и Авијатар однесоше ковчег Божји натраг у Јерусалим, и осташе ондје.

Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem: and they tarried there.

А Давид иђаше уз гору Маслинску, и идући плакаше, и покривене главе и бос иђаше; тако и сав народ, који бјеше с њим, сваки покривене главе иђаше, и идући плакаше.

And David went up by the ascent of [mount] Olivet, and wept as he went up, and had his head covered, and he went barefoot: and all the people that [was] with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.

Тада јавише Давиду и рекоше му: Ахитофел је међу онима који се побунише с Авесаломом. А Давид рече: разбиј намјеру Ахитофелову, Господе!

And [one] told David, saying, Ahithophel [is] among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

И кад Давид дође наврх горе, гдје се шћаше поклонити Богу, гле, срете га Хусај Архијанин раздрте хаљине и главе посуте прахом.

And it came to pass, that [when] David was come to the top [of the mount], where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head:

И рече му Давид: ако пођеш са мном бићеш ми на теготу.

Unto whom David said, If thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me:

Али да се вратиш у град и речеш Авесалому: бићу твој слуга, царе! био сам дуго слуга твоме оцу, а сада ћу тако бити теби слуга; разбићеш ми намјеру Ахитофелову.

But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; [as] I [have been] thy father's servant hitherto, so [will] I now also [be] thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.

И свештеници Садок и Авијатар неће ли бити с тобом? Што год чујеш из куће цареве, докажи Садоку и Авијатару свештеницима.

And [hast thou] not there with thee Zadok and Abiathar the priests? therefore it shall be, [that] what thing soever thou shalt hear out of the king's house, thou shalt tell [it] to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.

Ето, ондје су с њима два сина њихова, Ахимас Садоков и Јонатан Авијатаров, по њима ми јављајте што год дочујете.

Behold, [they have] there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz Zadok's [son], and Jonathan Abiathar's [son]; and by them ye shall send unto me every thing that ye can hear.

И отиде у град Хусај пријатељ Давидов, и Авесалом дође у Јерусалим.

So Hushai David's friend came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
