Прва књига о царевима (која се зове и Трећа књига о царевима )

И Хирам цар Тирски посла слуге своје к Соломуну чувши да су га помазали за цара намјесто оца његова, јер Хирам љубљаше Давида свагда.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.

And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,

Ти знаш да Давид отац мој није могао саградити дома имену Господа Бога својега од ратова којима га опколише, докле их Господ не положи под ноге његове.

Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.

А сада Господ Бог мој дао ми је мир отсвуда, немам ниједнога непријатеља ни зле сметње.

But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, [so that there is] neither adversary nor evil occurrent.

Зато, ево, велим да саградим дом имену Господа Бога својега, као што је рекао Господ Давиду оцу мојему говорећи: син твој, којега ћу посадити мјесто тебе на пријесто твој, он ће саградити дом имену мојему.

And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.

Зато заповједи сада нека ми насијеку дрва кедровијех на Ливану, а слуге ће моје бити са слугама твојим, а плату слугама твојим даћу ти како год речеш; јер ти знаш да у нас нема људи који умију сјећи дрва као Сидонци.

Now therefore command thou that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with thy servants: and unto thee will I give hire for thy servants according to all that thou shalt appoint: for thou knowest that [there is] not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.

И кад Хирам чу ријечи Соломунове, обрадова се веома и рече: да је благословен Господ данас, који даде Давиду мудра сина над онијем народом великим.

And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed [be] the LORD this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.

И посла Хирам Соломуну, и поручи: чуо сам чега ради си слао к мени; ја ћу учинити сву вољу твоју за дрва кедрова и за дрва јелова.

And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: [and] I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.

Моје ће слуге снијети с Ливана на море, и ја ћу их повезати у сплавове и спустити морем до мјеста које ми кажеш, и ондје ћу развезати, па их носи; а ти ћеш учинити моју вољу и дати храну чељади мојој.

My servants shall bring [them] down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive [them]: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.

И тако даваше Хирам Соломуну дрва кедрова и дрва јелова, колико му бјеше воља.

So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees [according to] all his desire.

А Соломун даваше Хираму двадесет тисућа кора пшенице за храну чељади његовој, и двадесет кора уља цијеђенога; толико даваше Соломун Хираму сваке године.

And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat [for] food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.

И Господ даде мудрост Соломуну како му бјеше обрекао, и бјеше мир између Хирама и Соломуна, и ухватише вјеру међу собом.

And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.

И одреди Соломун људе из свега Израиља, и би одређенијех тридесет тисућа људи.

And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.

И слаше их на Ливан по десет тисућа свакога мјесеца наизмјенце; један мјесец бијаху на Ливану, а два мјесеца код кућа својих. А Адонирам бјеше над овијем посленицима.

And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, [and] two months at home: and Adoniram [was] over the levy.

И имаше Соломун седамдесет тисућа носилаца и осамдесет тисућа тесача у планини,

And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;

Осим настојника Соломуновијех, који бијаху над тијем послом, три тисуће и триста, који управљаху народом који пословаше тај посао.

Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which [were] over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.

И заповједи цар да сносе велико камење, скупоцјено камење за темељ дому, тесано камење.

And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, [and] hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.

И тесаху посленици Соломунови и посленици Хирамови и Гивлеји, и приправљаху дрво и камење да се зида дом.

And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew [them], and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.
