Друга књига Мојсијева (која се зове Излазак )

Ово су имена синова Израиљевијех који дођоше у Мисир, дођоше с Јаковом, сваки са својом породицом:

Now these [are] the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.

Рувим, Симеун, Левије и Јуда,

Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,

Исахар, Завулон и Венијамин,

Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,

Дан и Нефталим, Гад и Асир.

Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.

А свега бијаше их од бедара Јаковљевијех седамдесет душа с Јосифом, који бјеше у Мисиру.

And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt [already].

А Јосиф умрије и сва браћа његова и сав онај нараштај.

And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

И синови Израиљеви народише се и умножише се, и напредоваше и осилише веома, да их се земља напуни.

And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.

Тада наста нов цар у Мисиру, који не знадијаше за Јосифа;

Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

И рече народу својему: гле, народ синова Израиљевијех већи је и силнији од нас.

And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel [are] more and mightier than we:

Него хајде мудро да поступамо с њима, да се не множе, и кад настане рат да не пристану с непријатељима нашим и не ударе на нас и не отиду из земље.

Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and [so] get them up out of the land.

Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

Али што га више мучаху то се више множаше и напредоваше, да се грожаху од синова Израиљевијех.

But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

И жестоко нагоњаху Мисирци синове Израиљеве на послове,

And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:

И загрчиваху им живот тешким пословима, блатом и опекама и сваким радом у пољу, и сваким другим послом, на који их жестоко нагоњаху.

And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, [was] with rigour.

И још заповједи цар Мисирски бабицама Јеврејским, од којих једној бјеше име Сефора а другој Фува,

And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one [was] Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:

И рече: кад бабичите Јеврејке, и у порођају видите да је мушко, убијте га, а кад буде женско, нек остане живо.

And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see [them] upon the stools; if it [be] a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it [be] a daughter, then she shall live.

Али се бабице бојаху Бога, и не чињаху како им рече цар Мисирски, него остављаху дјецу у животу.

But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

А цар Мисирски дозва бабице, и рече им: зашто то чините, те остављате у животу мушку дјецу?

And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

А бабице рекоше Фараону: Јеврејке нису као жене Мисирке; јаче су; док им дође бабица, оне већ роде.

And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women [are] not as the Egyptian women; for they [are] lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

И Бог учини добро бабицама; и народ се умножи и осили веома;

Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

И што се бабице бојаху Бога, начини им куће.

And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

Тада заповједи Фараон свему народу својему говорећи: свакога сина који се роди баците у воду, а кћери све остављајте у животу.

And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
