Свето Јеванђеље по Матеју

Тада приступише к Исусу књижевници и фарисеји од Јерусалима говорећи:

Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

Зашто ученици твоји преступају обичаје старијех? Јер не умивају руку својијех кад хљеб једу.

Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

А он одговарајући рече им: зашто и ви преступате заповијест Божију за обичаје своје?

But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Јер Бог заповиједа говорећи: поштуј оца и матер; и који опсује оца или матер смрћу да умре.

For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

А ви кажете: ако који рече оцу или матери: прилог је чим бих ти ја могао помоћи;

But ye say, Whosoever shall say to [his] father or [his] mother, [It is] a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

Може и да не поштује оца својега или матере. И укидосте заповијест Божију за обичаје своје.

And honour not his father or his mother, [he shall be free]. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

Лицемјери! добро је за вас пророковао Исаија говорећи:

[Ye] hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

Ови људи приближавају се к мени устима својијем, и уснама поштују ме; а срце њихово далеко стоји од мене.

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with [their] lips; but their heart is far from me.

Но залуду ме поштују учећи наукама и заповијестима људскима.

But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.

И дозвавши људе, рече им: слушајте и разумијте.

And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

Не погани човјека што улази у уста; него што излази из уста оно погани човјека.

Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Тада приступише ученици његови и рекоше му: знаш ли да фарисеји чувши ту ријеч саблазнише се?

Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

А он одговарајући рече: свако дрво које није усадио отац мој небески, искоријениће се.

But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

Оставите их: они су слијепи вођи слијепцима; а слијепац слијепца ако води, оба ће у јаму пасти.

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

А Петар одговарајући рече му: кажи нам причу ову.

Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

А Исус рече: еда ли сте и ви још неразумни?

And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

Зар још не знате да све што улази у уста у трбух иде, и избацује се напоље?

Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

А што излази из уста из срца излази, и оно погани човјека.

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

И ово је што погани човјека, а неумивенијем рукама јести не погани човјека.

These are [the things] which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

И изишавши оданде Исус отиде у крајеве Тирске и Сидонске.

Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

И гле, жена Хананејка изађе из онијех крајева, и повика к њему говорећи: помилуј ме Господе сине Давидов! моју кћер врло мучи ђаво.

And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, [thou] Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

А он јој не одговори ни ријечи. И приступивши ученици његови мољаху га говорећи: отпусти је, како виче за нама.

But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

А он одговарајући рече: ја сам послан само к изгубљенијем овцама дома Израиљева.

But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

А она приступивши поклони му се говорећи: Господе помози ми!

Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

А он одговарајући рече: није добро узети од дјеце хљеб и бацити псима.

But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast [it] to dogs.

А она рече: да, Господе, али и пси једу од мрва што падају с трпезе њиховијех господара.

And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

Тада одговори Исус, и рече јој: о жено! велика је вјера твоја; нека ти буде како хоћеш. И оздрави кћи њезина од онога часа.

Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great [is] thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

И отишавши Исус оданде, дође к мору Галилејском, и попевши се на гору, сједе ондје.

And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

И приступише к њему људи многи који имаху са собом хромијех, слијепијех, нијемијех, узетијех и другијех многијех, и положише их к ногама Исусовијем, и исцијели их,

And great multitudes came unto him, having with them [those that were] lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:

Тако да се народ дивљаше, видећи нијеме гдје говоре, узете здраве, хроме гдје иду, и слијепе гдје гледају; и хвалише Бога Израиљева.

Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

А Исус дозвавши ученике своје рече: жао ми је овога народа, јер већ три дана стоје код мене и немају шта јести; а нијесам их рад отпустити гладне да не ослабе на путу.

Then Jesus called his disciples [unto him], and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

И рекоше му ученици његови: откуда нам у пустињи толики хљеб да се насити толики народ?

And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

И рече им Исус: колико хљебова имате? А они рекоше: седам, и мало рибице.

And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

И заповједи народу да посједају по земљи.

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

И узевши онијех седам хљебова и рибе, и давши хвалу, преломи, и даде ученицима својијем, а ученици народу.

And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake [them], and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

И једоше сви, и наситише се; и накупише комада што претече седам котарица пунијех.

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken [meat] that was left seven baskets full.

А онијех што су јели бијаше четири хиљаде људи, осим жена и дјеце.

And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

И отпустивши народ уђе у лађу, и дође у околине Магдалске.

And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
