Свето Јеванђеље по Луки

Будући да многи почеше описивати догађаје који се испунише међу нама,

Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,

Као што нам предаше који испрва сами видјеше и слуге ријечи бише:

Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;

Намислих и ја, испитавши све од почетка, по реду писати теби, честити Теофиле,

It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,

Да познаш темељ онијех ријечи којима си се научио.

That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

У вријеме Ирода цара Јудејскога бијаше неки свештеник од реда Авијна, по имену Зарија, и жена његова од племена Аронова, по имену Јелисавета.

There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife [was] of the daughters of Aaron, and her name [was] Elisabeth.

А бијаху обоје праведни пред Богом, и живљаху у свему по заповијестима и уредбама Господњијем без мане.

And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

И не имадијаху дјеце; јер Јелисавета бјеше нероткиња, и бијаху обоје већ стари.

And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were [now] well stricken in years.

И догоди се, кад он служаше по своме реду пред Богом,

And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

Да по обичају свештенства дође на њега да изиђе у цркву Господњу да кади.

According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

И све мноштво народа бијаше напољу и мољаше се Богу у вријеме кађења.

And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

А њему се показа анђео Господњи који стајаше с десне стране олтара кадионога.

And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

И кад га видје Зарија уплаши се и страх нападе на њ.

And when Zacharias saw [him], he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

А анђео рече му: не бој се, Зарија; јер је услишена твоја молитва: и жена твоја Јелисавета родиће ти сина и надјени му име Јован.

But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

И биће теби радост и весеље, и многи ће се обрадовати његову рођењу.

And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

Јер ће бити велики пред Богом, и неће пити вина ни сикера; и напуниће се Духа светога још у утроби матере своје;

For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

И многе ће синове Израиљеве обратити ка Господу Богу њиховоме;

And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

И он ће напријед доћи пред њим у духу и сили Илијној да обрати срца отаца к дјеци и невјернике к мудрости праведника, и да приправи Господу народ готов.

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

И одговарајући анђео рече му: Ја сам Гаврило што стојим пред Богом, и послан сам да говорим с тобом и да ти јавим ову радост.

And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

И ево, онијемићеш и нећеш моћи говорити до онога дана док се то не збуде; јер нијеси вјеровао мојим ријечима које ће се збити у своје вријеме.

And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

И народ чекаше Зарију, и чуђаху се што се забави у цркви.

And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.

А изишавши не могаше да им говори; и разумјеше да му се нешто утворило у цркви; и он намигиваше им; и оста нијем.

And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

И кад се навршише дани његове службе отиде кући својој.

And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

А послије овијех дана затрудње Јелисавета жена његова,и кријаше се пет мјесеци говорећи:

And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,

Тако ми учини Господ у дане ове у које погледа на ме да ме избави од укора међу људима.

Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on [me], to take away my reproach among men.

А у шести мјесец посла Бог анђела Гаврила у град Галилејски по имену Назарет

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

К дјевојци испрошеној за мужа, по имену Јосифа из дома Давидова; и дјевојци бјеше име Марија.

To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name [was] Mary.

И ушавши к њој анђео рече: радуј се, благодатна! Господ је с тобом, благословена си ти међу женама.

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, [thou that art] highly favoured, the Lord [is] with thee: blessed [art] thou among women.

А она видјевши га поплаши се од ријечи његове и помисли: какав би ово био поздрав?

And when she saw [him], she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

И рече јој анђео: не бој се, Марија ! Јер си нашла милост у Бога.

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

И ево затрудњећеш, и родићеш сина, и надјени му име Исус.

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Он ће бити велики, и назваће се син највишега, и даће му Господ Бог пријесто Давидов оца његова;

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

И цароваће у дому Јаковљеву вавијек, и царству његовом неће бити краја.

And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

А Марија рече анђелу: како ће то бити кад ја не знам за мужа?

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

И одговарајући анђео рече јој: дух свети доћи ће на тебе, и сила највишега осјениће те; зато и оно што ће се родити биће свето, и назваће се син Божиј.

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

И ево Јелисавета твоја тетка, и она затрудње сином у старости својој, и ово је шести мјесец њојзи, коју зову нероткињом.

And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

Јер у Бога све је могуће што рече.

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

А Марија рече: ево слушкиње Господње; нека ми буде по ријечи твојој. И анђео отиде од ње.

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

А Марија уставши онијех дана отиде брзо у горњу земљу у град Јудин.

And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

И уђе у кућу Заријину, и поздрави се с Јелисаветом.

And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

И кад Јелисавета чу честитање Маријино, заигра дијете у утроби њезиној, и Јелисавета се напуни Духа светога,

And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

И повика здраво и рече: благословена си ти међу женама, и благословен је плод утробе твоје.

And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed [art] thou among women, and blessed [is] the fruit of thy womb.

И откуд мени ово да дође мати Господа мојега к мени?

And whence [is] this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Јер гле, кад дође глас честитања твојега у уши моје, заигра дијете радосно у утроби мојој.

For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

И благо оној која вјерова; јер ће се извршити што јој каза Господ.

And blessed [is] she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

И рече Марија: велича душа моја Господа;

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

И обрадова се дух мој Богу спасу мојему,

And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

Што погледа на понижење слушкиње своје; јер гле, отсад ће ме звати блаженом сви нараштаји;

For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

Што ми учини величину силни, и свето име његово;

For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy [is] his name.

И милост је његова од кољена на кољено онима који га се боје.

And his mercy [is] on them that fear him from generation to generation.

Показа силу руком својом; разасу поносите у мислима срца њихова.

He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

Збаци силне с пријестола, и подиже понижене.

He hath put down the mighty from [their] seats, and exalted them of low degree.

Гладне напуни блага, и богате отпусти празне.

He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

Прими Израиља слугу својега да се опомене милости;

He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of [his] mercy;

Као што говори оцима нашијем, Аврааму и сјемену његову довијека.

As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

Марија пак сједи с њом око три мјесеца, и врати се кући својој.

And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.

А Јелисавети дође вријеме да роди, и роди сина.

Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

И чуше њезини сусједи и родбина да је Господ показао велику милост своју на њој, и радоваху се с њом.

And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

И у осми дан дођоше да обрежу дијете, и шћадијаху да му надјену име оца његова, Зарија.

And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

И одговарајући мати његова рече не, него да буде Јован.

And his mother answered and said, Not [so]; but he shall be called John.

И рекоше јој: никога нема у родбини твојој да му је такво име.

And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

И намигиваху оцу његову како би он хтио да му надјену име.

And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

И заискавши дашчицу, написа говорећи: Јован му је име. И зачудише се сви.

And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

И одмах му се отворише уста и језик његов, и говораше хвалећи Бога.

And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue [loosed], and he spake, and praised God.

И уђе страх у све сусједе њихове; и по свој горњој Јудеји разгласи се сав овај догађај.

And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.

И сви који чуше метнуше у срце своје говорећи: шта ће бити из овога дјетета? И рука Господња бјеше с њим.

And all they that heard [them] laid [them] up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.

И Зарија отац његов напуни се Духа светога, и пророкова говорећи:

And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

Благословен Господ Бог Јаковљев што походи и избави народ свој,

Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

И подиже нам рог спасенија у дому Давида слуге својега,

And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

Као што говори устима светијех пророка својијех од вијека

As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

Да ће нас избавити од нашијех непријатеља и из руку свију који мрзе на нас;

That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

Учинити милост оцима нашијем, и опоменути се светога завјета својега,

To perform the mercy [promised] to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

Клетве којом се клео Аврааму оцу нашему да ће нам дати

The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

Да се избавимо из руку непријатеља својијех, и да му служимо без страха,

That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

И у светости и у правди пред њим док смо год живи.

In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

И ти, дијете, назваћеш се пророк највишега; јер ћеш ићи напријед пред лицем Господњијем да му приправиш пут;

And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

Да даш разум спасенија народу његову за опроштење гријеха њиховијех,

To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

По дубокој милости Бога нашега, по којој нас је походио исток с висине;

Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,

Да обасјаш оне који сједе у тами и у сјену смртноме; да упутиш ноге наше на пут мира.

To give light to them that sit in darkness and [in] the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

А дијете растијаше и јачаше духом, и бијаше у пустињи дотле док се не показа Израиљу.

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.
