Дјела светијех апостола (Писао их свети апостол и јеванђелиста Лука )

А Агрипа рече Павлу: допушта ти се да говориш сам за се. Онда Павле пруживши руку одговараше:

Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:

За срећу своју држим, царе Агрипа! што се данас пред тобом одговарам за све што ме потворају Јевреји,

I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:

А највише што знам да ти познајеш све Јеврејске обичаје и препирања. Зато те молим да ме послушаш милостиво.

Especially [because I know] thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.

Моје дакле живљење од младости, које је испрва било међу народом мојијем у Јерусалиму, знаду сви Јевреји.

My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;

Како ме знаду испрва, ако хоће посвједочити, да по познатој јереси наше вјере живљех фарисејски.

Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

И сад стојим пред судом за надање обећања које Бог обрече оцевима нашијем,

And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:

Коме се сви дванаест кољена нашијех једнако дан и ноћ служећи надају да ће доћи. За ово надање оптужен сам, царе Агрипа, од Јевреја.

Unto which [promise] our twelve tribes, instantly serving [God] day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.

Шта? зар ви мислите да се не може вјеровати да Бог мртве подиже?

Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

Тако и ја мишљах да ми ваља многа зла чинити против имена Исуса Назарећанина,

I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

Као што и учиних у Јерусалиму; и многе од светијех ја затворах у тамнице, примивши власт од главара свештеничкијех; и кад их убијаху, пристајах на суд.

Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against [them].

И по свијем зборницама мучећи их често, нагоњах да хуле на Исуса; и одвише мрзећи на њих гоњах их тја и до туђијех градова.

And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled [them] to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted [them] even unto strange cities.

За које идући у Дамаск с влашћу и заповијешћу од главара свештеничкијех,

Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,

У подне, царе, видјех на путу с неба свјетлост већу од сијања сунчанога, која обасја мене и оне што иђаху са мном.

At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.

А кад ми сви падосмо на земљу, чух глас гдје говори мени и казује Јеврејскијем језиком: Савле! Савле! зашто ме гониш? Тешко ти је противу бодила праћати се.

And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? [it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

А ја рекох: ко си ти, Господе? А он рече: ја сам Исус, којега ти гониш;

And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.

But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

Избављајући те од народа Јеврејскога и од незнабожаца, којима ћу те послати,

Delivering thee from the people, and [from] the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,

Да им отвориш очи да се обрате од таме к видјелу и од области сотонине к Богу, да приме опроштење гријеха и достојање међу освећенима вјером мојом.

To open their eyes, [and] to turn [them] from darkness to light, and [from] the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Зато, царе Агрипа! не бих непокоран небеској утвари;

Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:

Него најприје онима који су у Дамаску и у Јерусалиму, потом и по свој земљи Јеврејској, и незнабошцима проповиједах да се покају, и да се обрате к Богу чинећи дјела достојна покајања.

But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and [then] to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

Зато ме Јевреји ухватише у цркви и шћаху да ме раскину.

For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill [me].

Али добивши помоћ Божију стојим до самога овог дана, и свједочим и малом и великом, не казујући ништа осим што пророци казаше да ће бити, и Мојсије:

Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

Да ће Христос пострадати, и да ће бити први из васкрсенија мртвијех и проповиједати видјело народу Јеврејскоме и незнабошцима.

That Christ should suffer, [and] that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

А кад он ово одговараше, рече Фист великијем гласом: зар лудујеш, Павле? Многе те књиге изводе из памети.

And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.

А он рече: не лудујем, честити Фисте, него ријечи истине и разума казујем.

But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.

Јер за ово зна цар, којему и говорим слободно; јер не вјерујем да му је што од овога непознато; јер ово није било у углу.

For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.

Вјерујеш ли, царе Агрипа, пророцима? Знам да вјерујеш.

King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.

А Агрипа рече Павлу: још мало па ћеш ме наговорити да будем хришћанин.

Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

А Павле рече: молио бих Бога и за мало и за много да би не само ти него и сви који ме слушају данас били такови као и ја што сам, осим окова овијех.

And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

И кад он ово рече, уста цар и судија и Верникија, и који сјеђаху с њима,

And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:

И отишавши разговараху се међу собом говорећи: овај човјек није учинио ништа што заслужује смрт или окове.

And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.

А Агрипа рече Фисту: овај човјек могаше бити пуштен да не рече да хоће к ћесару. И тако судија намисли да га пошље к ћесару.

Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar.
