Прва књига Самуилова (која се зове и Прва књига о царевима )

Опет дођоше Зифеји к Саулу у Гавају говорећи: не крије ли се Давид на брду Ехели према Гесимону?

And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, [which is] before Jeshimon?

А Саул се подиже и сиђе у пустињу Зифску, и с њим три тисуће људи изабранијех из Израиља, да тражи Давида у пустињи Зифској.

Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

И стаде Саул у око на брду Ехели према Гесимону крај пута; а Давид оста у пустињи, и опази да Саул иде за њим у пустињу.

And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which [is] before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.

И посла Давид уходе, и од њих дозна зацијело да је дошао Саул.

David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come in very deed.

Тада се подиже Давид и дође на мјесто гдје Саул бијаше с војском. И Давид видје мјесто гдје спаваше Саул и Авенир син Ниров војвода његов; а спаваше Саул међу колима а народ лежаше око њега.

And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him.

И Давид проговори и рече Ахимелеху Хетејину и Ависају сину Серујину брату Јоавову: ко ће сићи са мном к Саулу у око? А Ависај одговори: ја ћу сићи с тобом.

Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.

И тако Давид и Ависај дођоше ноћу к народу; а гле, Саул лежаше и спаваше између кола, и копље му бјеше чело главе пободено у земљу; Авенир пак и народ лежаху око њега.

So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.

Тада рече Ависај Давиду: данас ти даде Бог непријатеља твојега у руке; зато сада да га прободем копљем за земљу једанпут, нећу више.

Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not [smite] him the second time.

А Давид рече Ависају: немој га убити; јер ко ће подигнути руку своју на помазаника Господњега и бити прав?

And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD'S anointed, and be guiltless?

Још рече Давид: тако жив био Господ, Господ ће га убити, или ће доћи дан његов да умре, или ће изаћи у бој и погинути.

David said furthermore, [As] the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.

Не дао ми Бог да дигнем руку своју на помазаника Господњега! Него узми сада копље што му је чело главе и чашу за воду, па да идемо.

The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD'S anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that [is] at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.

So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul's bolster; and they gat them away, and no man saw [it], nor knew [it], neither awaked: for they [were] all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them.

И Давид прешав на другу страну стаде наврх брда издалека; и бјеше између њих много мјеста.

Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill afar off; a great space [being] between them:

И стаде Давид викати народ и Авенира сина Нирова говорећи: што се не одзиваш, Авенире? А Авенир се одазва и рече: који си ти што вичеш цара?

And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who [art] thou [that] criest to the king?

А Давид рече Авениру: нијеси ли ти јунак? и ко је као ти у Израиљу? Зашто нијеси чувао цара господара својега? Јер је ишао један из народа да убије господара твојега.

And David said to Abner, [Art] not thou a [valiant] man? and who [is] like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.

Нијеси добро радио. Тако да је жив Господ, заслужили сте смрт што нијесте чували господара својега, помазаника Господњега. Ето, гледај, гдје је копље царево и чаша за воду што му бјеше чело главе?

This thing [is] not good that thou hast done. [As] the LORD liveth, ye [are] worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the LORD'S anointed. And now see where the king's spear [is], and the cruse of water that [was] at his bolster.

Тада Саул позна глас Давидов, и рече: је ли то твој глас, сине Давиде? А Давид рече: мој је глас, царе господару!

And Saul knew David's voice, and said, [Is] this thy voice, my son David? And David said, [It is] my voice, my lord, O king.

Још рече: зашто господар мој гони слугу својега? јер шта сам учинио? и како је зло у руци мојој?

And he said, Wherefore doth my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil [is] in mine hand?

Зато сада царе господару мој, послушај ријечи слуге својега. Ако те Господ дражи на мене, нека му је угодан принос твој; ако ли синови човјечији, проклети су пред Господом, јер ме изагнаше данас да се не држим нашљедства Господњега, и рекоше: иди, служи туђим боговима.

Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if [they be] the children of men, cursed [be] they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.

Али сада да не падне крв моја на земљу далеко од очију Господњих; јер цар Израиљев изиде да тражи буху једну, као кад ко гони јаребицу по планини.

Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the LORD: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains.

Тада рече Саул: згријешио сам; врати се, сине Давиде, нећу ти отселе чинити зла, кад ти данас драга би душа моја; ево, лудо сам радио и погријешио сам веома.

Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.

А Давид одговори и рече: ево копља царева; нека дође који од момака и нека га узме.

And David answered and said, Behold the king's spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.

А Господ ће платити свакоме по правди његовој и по вјери његовој. Јер те бјеше предао Господ данас у руке моје, али не хтјех дигнути руке своје на помазаника Господњега.

The LORD render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness: for the LORD delivered thee into [my] hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the LORD'S anointed.

И зато, ево, како је данас мени драга била душа твоја, тако нека буде драга моја душа пред Господом, и нека ме избави из сваке невоље.

And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.

А Саул рече Давиду: да си благословен, сине мој Давиде! извршићеш и надвладаћеш. Тада Давид отиде својим путем, а Саул се врати у своје мјесто.

Then Saul said to David, Blessed [be] thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great [things], and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
